- Wedding: July 2012
My FH just finished building his dune buggy (aka rail buggy) from start to finish and I’m very proud of him! He loves to ride, and I hardly get to see him over the summer because he’s gone most of the time! I would like to surprise him with a groom’s cake that shows off his hobby. This is what I’m thinking: A small replica of our actual wedding cake (3 tier very simple butter cream with a 1 in black ribbon at the bottom of each tier and some flowers at the top) on 1 side of the cake I want to “tear into it” and make it look like mud coming down the side using chocolate frosting or modeling chocolate or whatever!. I want to put a buggy climbing the side of the cake that looks like mud with a bride covered in mud standing at the bottom with a pissed off look on her face and (if possible) a groom in the buggy. I spoke to a local bakery and they want to charge an ungodly amount of money to do this! They were gonna make the buggy and the bride/groom from gumpaste. I’m trying to find a toy model of a dune buggy. I’ve found some on ebay – hotwheels and matchbox – but i’d like it to be a little bigger than that. Any suggestions on where to find? I’ve scoured the web and toy stores! Also where could I find a bride and groom (seperate pieces) to use? Thanks!!!
Here is a picture of what his buggy looks like (not quite finished)
here’s a picture of a cake to show you kinda the look I’m going for… I don’t want it so much split in half and not nearly as big or as detailed… I want it to look like the buggy destroyed the cake not just a “his” and “hers”
