Hey

This guy is amazing!  He has such a great eye for photos. His name is Sam Obeid:

His cost is reasonable and he throws in a complementary engagement photo shoot.

Check him out!  I am using him for my wedding.

p.s. once you get to his website, go to ‘portfolio’ then ‘photos’  – there you will find his wedding shots.  🙂

We’re going with Justin at Stillmotion. It’s not cheap, but he’s simply amazing. He shot my friend’s wedding a year or so ago, and they were some of the best photos I’ve ever seen, never mind wedding photos. Amina is the other photographer there and she’s also really wonderful. I can’t recommend them enough if you have the room in your budget.

Oooh I just looked at Renaissance, I love their style! I might book my boudoir session with them!

+1 for Stillmotion.  They are INSANELY talented.  Their videos are amazing as well.  Their “fusion” coverage is not for the faint of heart though…It’ll cost you a pretty penny.  However, I think it’s totally worth it if you can do it!

Ugh I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want to add their video onto my wedding package but I just can’t swallow the idea of an extra $4900…….. Maybe if we have a crazy severe windfall between now and September…

Ooooh I am so glad you posted this – I was just going to write a post about engagement shoots in Toronto!

We don’t really have them in England but seeing so many fantastic ones on the Bee has made me really, REALLY want to have one too.

Do you guys have any locations in Toronto that you’d suggest? It’d be nice for us if it were obvious that some of them were taken in Toronto as we’ll only be living here for a few years before going back to England so they would be a nice memento from our time here.

OK – I am a long time (long time!) lurker but figured I’d better sign up so that I could throw out a name as well. I live right in downtown Toronto and worked with a great photographer for my wedding last Oct. She’s not located IN Toronto but does shoots in and around Toronto regularly. I was really nervous about the whole thing because I’m not terribly photogenic (IMO) and I’d heard so many stories (some on this site) about people getting their photos back and liking only about 10 out of 500 photos. Anyway, to cut this short, I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Jayme and I LOVE (love love love) my photos. Jayme is somewhat younger (not that this is bad!!!). But this does mean that she’s newer to the industry and therefore less expensive right now. (Yay!) I think she could definitely be charging more. OK to say that now that my wedding is over. 🙂

Anyway, not sure how much people will value this review given I just signed up today. But for what it’s worth, here’s Jayme’s site:

And if anyone is looking for a non-traditional venue for your reception (where you can bring in your own alcohol with no corkerage) – we had an absolute blast at Balzac’s Cafe in the Distillery District with about 65 guests. Also, King West Flowers (King & Bathurst) did an incredible job with the flowers given that all I gave them to work with was “I want thistles”.

OK – just saw the question about locations where you can photograph in Toronto…

One of the things we did was literally wander down some alleys in the downtown area and take photos with graffiti as the background. Several of these are my favourites.

There are a lot of great spots in the Distillery District (close to downtown). You do need a permit to photograph there (cost about $200 I think?). Also, one other small downside is that it does tend to be a popular location for wedding parties. However we found many amazing backdrops there all the same.
