- Wedding: September 2013 - Lake Taghkanic State Park
We are having a combined bachelor/bachelorette party.
I feel like some people may think this is weird… but even though my FH and I didn’t start dating until college, we have been friends since he was in eigth grade and I was a freshman in high school. So we have a pretty tight group of mutual friends from over the years and we’d rather celebrate together with everyone than have to split up our friends by gender. We’ve also been together for 7 years so the “last night of being single” party doesn’t really feel relevant.
Originally we wanted to go to Montreal but decided it would be too pricey and too hard to coordinate, Then we were thinking of going to a casino (Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods) but prices for those are pretty high too, especially because we would need multiple hotel rooms.
I really liked the idea of maybe renting a house or cabin for the weekend. We’re not really into the bar/club scene, we’re more of a beer and boardgames kind of crowd. So it wouldn’t necessarily have to be in a bustling area with tons to do. We just want a place where we can sort of get away for a weekend and hang out with everyone and just relax and have a good time before the wedding.
We live in the Putnam County area, but I’d be willing to travel an hour or so. I was thinking about maybe like Saugerties or Saratoga or Lake George? Connecticut is also doable. I know there are places that do this sort of thing I just don’t really know where to look.
Any info or suggestions would be helpful!
