We sent out our invites beginning of September and asked for them back by beginning of October. We’ve only gotten about a third back, but already it’s about 50%/50% accept/decline. We originally guessed about 125-150 would come, and my mom added about 75 on top of our list, so we invited 236 people. Based on who has yet to respond, I’m thinking we may not break 100! Did this happen to anyone else? Did you get any surprise accepts? We have a few surprise accepts, but have a bunch of surprise declines – it’s a family member’s birthday, or they are traveling in Paris, or they have kids and trick or treating is very important (our date is Halloween). I’m disappointed, but I guess it will still be a great day.

As long as you and your man are there, that’s what matters.

Plus you still have over a week to go! I’ve heard that RSVP’s are notoriously late arriving so there could be a large amount of them still out there…

We invited 110 people and are looking at only 46!! I never thought it would be 50/50…the RSVP date was Sept 20th, so we are going to have to make a few calls to ensure that a “no response” means declined.
I’m kinda bummed b/c I wanted around 80ish people, not too big and not too small, but as it turns out it prob will be pretty small. Fiance doesnt’ care at all LOL he said the people he really wanted there are there. I guess the main reason I’m bummed is because your wedding is a time to show off your style, its a party that I’m hosting & I wanted to host a party for 80 not for 46 🙂

I’m really worried about that happening, because my RSVP’s are very slowly trickling in. I haven’t gotten a decline yet, but then again, I’ve only received six RSVP’s back. We probably sent out 62 invitations (yes, I’ve lost count!), figure two per person… so if only half came, that would still be about 60 people. I want more like 80 people attending. We’ll see what happens!

- Wedding: November 2009 - Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (LaCoste, TX) and Mary Gray Events Center (Castroville, TX)
Just add in some extras like Miss Labrador (I think or was it Miss Cowboy Boot) and make the party really special for those that are coming.

I’m with you AuntiAAA – I’m hosting a party and I want people there! I invited people I wanted there (my mom added to guest list for family and family friends that should get invitations) and I’m bummed when people say no. Some are travelling to Europe and can’t make it, so I understand.
Today I had a friend who had moved across the state call me to say they can’t come after all. They’ve been planning for 8 months to come, and now there is a family wedding on my same date. She thought, hoped, prayed it was the week after, but alas it was not. She called and was really upset, but I understand – family comes first, especially if someone is going to get really pissy with you about not coming. But they are coming into town next week so I can catch up with them when Fiance is in Montreal for his bachelor party. 🙂
