The diamond on my engagement ring is loose. I heard it making a jingle noise when I moved or touched it, so I figured it was loose. When I was checking it out, I realized that I could spin my diamond. I’ve stopped wearing it because I don’t want to lose my diamond. I’ve only been engaged for a little over a year. I really hope I don’t have to deal with this problem for the rest of my life! My ring is gold, either 10 or 12 carats. Is it possible to have to prongs changed from gold to platinum? Anyone else have this problem? What did you do?

A jeweler will be able to fix this for you by tightening the prongs. It’s unfortunately a very common occurence with rings so you should be able to go anywhere to get it fixed.

Yeah Id definately go to the jewelers. They can change the entire basket of prongs to plantinum maybe? The jeweler informed me of this bc I have 4 prongs I was worried one of the prongs would break off so they told me the could replace all four for six prongs.

Thanks guys. I just hope there is a relatively easy and financially painless solution that would prevent this from happening again in the future.

They absolutely can, if you find a local jeweler who has a bench he could probably do it in a day. My prongs on my ring were platinum, and I actually still had one loose at one point, but I’m sure it would have been worse if they weren’t!
