@jordankaine:  I think your Fiance needs to stand up to her… try to talk to him.

@jordankaine:  She’s just trying to be helpful here. But I understand your irritation. Some people just aren’t meant to live together.

I see you’re in Maryland, what area are you trying to live in?

ETA: I’m now having flashbacks of us house hunting. DH’s family lives out of state, and were constantly calling about what houses did we see, and one of his parents in particular told him how sad it was that he wasn’t going to them for help. Yeah, I understand the “we aren’t children!” irritation, because I had A WHOLE LOT OF IT then. Just be patient if you can, and disengage when you feel your blood boiling. Remember, you Mother-In-Law is a lifelong relationship. Try to keep it nice and civil, or else you’ll suffer for years to come. And that could suck!

She sounds like a control freak.  Your SO needs a sit down with her and let her know you guys are living your own lives and to please let you guys make your own decisions.

Sorry you’re dealing with this! I would just try your best to completely ignore her (easier said than done, of course). I’m guessing that she probably thinks she’s “helping”. Your Fiance should tell her (nicely) that you guys really don’t need help and are looking forward to making all these decisions together as a couple.
