Auntie Em’s in Eagle Rock. They are famous for their cupcakes, but they make delicious cakes too. Don’t know if they do formal tastings, but you can go try a bunch of mini-cupcakes to test out their flavors.

Susina on Beverly near La Brea–my favorite “high end” bakery.

Avoid Sweet Lady Jane!!

While I am in AZ now, I used to live in LA and can recommend 3.

Skiffs in Simi Valley. Super simple cake designs so dont expect anything elaborate but they have really yummy, moist cakes!

Torrance Bakery in Torrance, super yum!

A Sweet Design in Granada Hills, joeleen did my wedding cake and she is really sweet and accomodating. Our cake was beautiful and the grooms cake was really cool too. She did a couple of fake tiers and a sheet cake for the back and it worked perfect and saved us some money. Here is a link where you can see part of the cake and the grooms cake

We’re using Ninong’s Pastries in Granada Hills (SFV). Their cakes are delicious!
