i’m getting married in LA this year and I was freaking out last year when the park I wanted to have my reception in wouldn’t let me book my ceremony until January of this year. My sister calmed me down by telling me that if I couldn’t book it then no one else could either so there wasn’t a huge risk of losing my date.

I know it would definitely be more stressful to have to wait until 6 months out to book your venue and then get everything else you need to booked, but maybe there are things you can take care of in the meantime.

If you really love this venue that much, are you going to be happy someplace else? Talk with them, explain your concerns about the closeness of booking and see if they are willing to work something out with you. Most of the onsite coordinators are great at handling brides concerns and making helpful recommendations.

This might sound off the beaten path, but I heard the L.A. Police Academy has a beautiful garden setting for weddings & receptions that is very reasonably priced.

Dana,

Can they tell you when they will know by? Give you a time frame so you can book an alternate. If they know they won’t be doing wedding by September you still have plenty of time and you have from now until September to find a second choice or just fall in love with a different place.

hi dana,

there is also scripps college in claremont.  it is on the outer edges of the county but it is a beautiful woman’s campus with tons of outdoor spaces.  they only book in june and july each year and their optional campus caterer is uber inexpensive.

otherwise, since you only have 100, i would try a nice restaurant with outdoor dining.
