I gained 35 pounds total with my pregnancy and was only up 10 when I came home from the hospital. I thought, “Great! Breastfeeding will take care of the last ten!”
NOPE! I gained weight! The hunger and the “stuck being a homebody” lifestyle didn’t help whatsoever. I also struggled with supply and was terrified to reduce my calories. In 8 months, I gained back 15 pounds so I was only 10 pounds under my delivery weight! We are at 9 months now and have switched to formula for other reasons about six weeks ago and I’ve already lost 10 pounds doing keto and walking.
So now I’m still up about 15 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight, and I need to lose a little more because I was overweight when I got pregnant. I’m feeling good though. I hope you find something that works for you!

fourfrenchfries : yes! Being a mom = sitting around a lot. Even with a toddler who is basically running..
good job! 10 pounds is a great start! Glad you are feeling good! Good luck!

mrsknc : I only gained 17 pounds and that fell off almost immediately, BUT I had 25 pounds to lose when I got pregnant and every time I try to work on those pounds my supply dips. She is 9.5 months now and I told myself that I’ll protect my supply until she’s a year and then after that she gets what she gets until she decides to wean – momma wants pants without an elastic waistband!

mrsknc : well I should clarify, eating more keeps me on the lower end of the range that is about 10 lbs over my normal weight. Eating too little causes me to gain more. I wish I could eat, eat, eat and lose weight, that would be amazing! 😝

mrsknc : Yeah I’ve had both experiences. My first I lost all the weight (like 43lbs) by about 4mo pp and I could continue for another few months eating and drinking whatever and I didn’t gain any. My second baby was a real struggle compared to the first. Most of it (50lbs) did come off relatively easily but slower and I had to watch what I ate more. I did work out (maybe 3-4x a week) after both kids so I don’t consider that a factor but my second is almost 17mo and I am still up about 6-7lbs. It’s so stubborn! He still nurses 3x a day so I’m not sure what will happen when I fully wean him but he will probably be over 2 before I try to do it myself. I’m hoping it’ll fall off after I wean him lol. The lbs themselves don’t really bother me just the fact that it’s all sitting on my stomach so I can’t wear most of my old clothes. I’ve been buying new, comfier things though recently.

mrsknc : Let us know how that works out!
The first time after baby when I was truly happy was when I was able to zip up my winter coat. Baby was born in September so that really needed to happen asap.
