I’m still pregnant, but am very interested in this thread.

At 38 weeks, I gained a bit over 25 pounds. People keep saying it’s all belly, but I see it in my butt, my legs, my arms, my face… Well everywhere, really.

One thing I noticed, especially with my legs, is that it varies a LOT. In the morning, they’ll be slightly bigger then they were pre-pregnancy, but at night, or after a workout, or depending on what I eat, or after a bath, they look h-u-g-e compared to what I’m used to. Then the next morning, almost normal again. Same with my face, and collarbone, etc.

So, I don’t know how people lose it after except for eating well and exercising; but I’d say be aware that what you accidentally saw in the mirror might not reflect your actual weight gain – could just be temporary bloat.

I am only 17 weeks and have gained 7 lbs. However, that 7 lbs is DEFINITELY NOT in my belly. IT’s in my thighs, my ass, my face, and my love handles. And somehow my belly is still flat.

If I keep gaining weight in this way, I can’t imagine what I will look like when baby is due. I am terrified.

I didn’t gain for quite a while and then every single dr’s appt the scale kept going up and up.  My face would even turn red with how embarrased I was at what the number was.  I am now 37 weeks and at my last dr’s appt last week I was up 40 pounds.  Bleh………And I even feel bigger this week than last.  Hoping the breast feeding and watching what I eat really will help it to come off once she is born!

Ah I feel ya! At 36 weeks I have gained 42 pounds and won’t be surprised if I am at the 45/50 mark by the time I deliver. DR isn’t worried or concerned at all, but I am!

I am retaining tons of water weight right now too. I am not all belly either. I was pre preggo very thin and fit all over, and as soon as I got preggo, I gained everywhere first before it went to my belly. I am really struggling with how my arms, legs/thighs and face look, as they are def way bigger and like I said, I am not all belly at all so I am worried how the weight lose is going to be, I have a feeling I am going to have to work my butt off.

I gained 40 which I was not happy about.  3 wks post I had dropped around 28 poubds doing absolutely nothing (it was on 12 when I came home from the hospital).  Now 10 weeks post I’m down another 5lbs or so.  I’m definitely frustrated because my body just isn’t the same.  I have now started the Insanity program so I can get back into regular workouts…hopefully that will help.

I have a feeling I’m going to be in the gain all over club.  I’m not yet 15 weeks and my legs look like cottage cheese all over.  I am prone to cellulite and even though I’ve only gained 4-5 lbs my legs are sooo cellulitey.  And my butt feels big too.

Fear not, my friend gained 55 pounds during her pregnancy.  Between breastfeeding and taking walks with her newborn, she lost all but 10 pounds within the first 12 weeks.  20 weeks later, she’s lost it all.

One lady I know told me to weigh myself before I head to the hospital then again when I get home. She said that I will feel so much better about myself. I plan on doing that!

@winniewolf: That is encouraging to hear!

@AvantLaLettre: How soon are you going back to work?

I was hoping that going back to work would help me lose the baby weight too.

I gained 37 pounds and I had lost 25 at my 6 week appointment. I think I lost most of it in the first few weeks. For me, a lot of what I thought was weight gain in my legs was probably just fluid. I did almost no exercise, and I’m eating a lot because breastfeeding makes you so hungry. My midwife said not to go on a diet for the last 12 pounds because I would still need some extra reserves for breastfeeding. So I would not worry about it.

@Marriedandlovingit:  LOL my Mother-In-Law told me NOT to do this.  She said she felt so light and great when she got home from the hospital and hadn’t lost an ounce.  I plan to wait like a week or so : )

I should mention that I have the cottage cheese legs despite the fact that I have continued to work out so far.  Doesn’t seem to make any difference!
