I have lost hair twice (it came back).  The first time was from the medication I was on.  (Topamax)  When I stopped taking it, it started growing back.  Took about a year for my hair to be back to how it was.  The second time was because of a thyroid issue, although it was dealt with before it got bad.  I think you should go to your regular doctor and have the do a CBC just to check for any problems.  If nothing comes up, it probably is from stress.

@emilygrace07:  Yes, hair loss in women can be caused by thyroid issues, recently giving birth, stress, or a hormone imbalance. You should go to your doc and have him check your thyroid, estrogen, progesterone, and testesterone.

Rogaine for men is not intended for use on women. I believe there is one especially for women now. Biotin, and a diet high in protein can help with hair growth, as well.

@CourtneyB:  My ferritin (iron stores) run on the low side of normal too at 27. I also take an iron supplement.

I have been feeling like mine is thinning as well just noticing a lot of hair around the house lol. I was also reading that fall is a shedding period and it is normal to lose between 40-100 strands a day. I have started to take more vitamins too.

I have had hair loss and it was due to being under a lot of stress, needless to say..it all grew up but it took a while for it to get back to it’s natural state… I still have some hairs coming through…
