so I recently got a new wedding set made and while I loved the finger coverage of the setting they’re was too much space around the center stone (not like my inspo pic) so I asked to have it reset which the jewellers kindly did! They didn’t tell me what they were actually going to do with it and I collected the reset ring yesterday. When I did I got a bit of a shock as although the halo is just the way I want it, is it a lot smaller and a lot less finger coverage. Here are pics of both (different lighting but you get the idea!)
You can see from where the split sides hit the halo that it’s smaller, in first pic they are below top and bottom but in second they are right at top and bottom! Also maybe it’s the fact that I don’t have my wedding bands in second pic (being resized) that’s throwing me but I just can’t get over how much smaller it seems, and I am feeling very deflated!
Jewellers has said that I can’t have as much finger coverage if I want a smaller halo unless I go for a larger center (not really an option money wise!) so I don’t know what to do! Maybe I should do a double halo?
What do ye think? Am I fussing about nothing! Any thoughts or advice? What would you do?

lisag103 : I think they both look good. I think with your wedding band it will look more the same. But after you get wedding band back and still hate it then do double or get old setting back.

The new setting is beautiful and really shows off your center stone. You’ll be plenty blingy when you have your other bands back, right now you are comparing apples to oranges.

I much prefer the look of the second pic with no airline/gap between the center diamond and the halo, even if it means less coverage. It just looks more refined. But if you really need the additional finger coverage, the halo diamonds could be made a bit larger (though that might throw off the balance between the center diamond and halo diamonds). Of course, that is assuming this is a custom setting. Your options are much more limited if it is a stock setting with just your center diamond dropped in. GL

I much prefer the new one. I always judge jewellers who can’t make a halo without an airline.

I prefer the second picture. The halo doesn’t look like it’s trying to compete with the center stone. I’d say see how you feel when you get your wedding bands back!

I think once your bands are back you will feel a lot better!!! and if you don’t then go with the double halo =) I think both styles are nice

They look so similar, I really wouldn’t be worried about a “loss” of coverage!

+1 for team wait for your bands.
I love your new halo, it’s prefect and it’s what you wanted. In the grand scheme of things the difference is what… 1mm?

The new one is way prettier and the “loss” of coverage is minuscule! I also love how it looks with the plain band! Make the ring pop! Don’t go back! The new setting is way prettier! Love it.

Thanks a million ladies. I think I’m panicking prematurely but ye have helped to calm down a bit ha ha.
I definatley prefer the new halo setting for sure and also the plain band is a size smaller than my ering which is throwing me off a bit also.
I will hold on until I get my bands back and see how I feel. Im glad everyone seems to prefer the new halo, it’s making me feel a little better about the slight drop in coverage.
Thanks a million everyone.

It honestly took me a minute to figure out the difference. The new version is so much more luxurious looking. It really showcases the cut and size of your center stone!

It looks like the halo diamonds were slightly larger in the original setting.

In addition to the airline, the proportions were wrong on the first ring. The halo was too thick and used larger stones. The second iteration is far superior. In terms of finger coverage you have a lot more than many people. It’s not a big thinking diamond, but it’s very respectable and beautiful. Learn to love it.

lisag103 : the new ring and new finger coverage amount look better than the other picture, you’re being silly, stop it
