I dropped my birth control pill down the sink this morning so I didn’t take it. Does this mean I’m going to be screwed up all month? Has anyone had this problem before? I’m in the first week of the pack and I take Yaz. I have a bad feeling that I should be starting over but I don’t have another pack on hand and won’t be able to get a new perscription filled today due to work commitments. I’m hoping I can just keep going with the rest and be okay.

I’m not on yaz, but I’m on BCP; it would make sense to me if I dropped Mondays pill I would take Tuesdays pill instead. I would not waste the whole pack.

If it was me, I would just take Tuesday’s pill and continue on like 7mom said. You’ll get your period one day early…no biggy!

Just keep taking your pills as usual as it is just one pill. Just for peace of mind, you’ll want to use a back-up method for the next 7 days (male or female condom).

I lost a pill one time and I called my OB (I was on yasmin) and she told me to take the next day’s pill and to come by her office in the next few days and they would give me a free sample pack so I could take an active pill from there when I run out of my pills. She didn’t want me to have to pay for a new pack just for one pill. So I suggest calling your OB and see what she says.

I have no professional advice… but if it was me. I’d take the next day’s pill. Then continue to take each pill a day earlier than what the packing says. So you’ll get your period a day earlier but thats it right? You can ask the pharmaist or physican if you get a chance.

I used to take Yaz and I dropped one once and lost it. I just took the next day’s pill as others have said and just got my period one day earlier than normal.

If it is a pill that is a stable horomone level the whole month (ie not triphasic), just take tomorrow’s pill. If it is triphasic, either refer to the drug info insert that came with your prescription, or call your doctor/pharmacist.

I’ve lost a pill before, too (that’s what I get for taking them while I drive, oops), and just taken the next day’s pill. Yes, I did finish the pack and get my period a day early, and then I had 8 placebo days until the next pack instead of 7…worked fine for me but I don’t use a triphasic. If you’re worried, ask the pharmacist or call the nurse at the GYN’s office–they usually know just what to do. Good luck!
