Hey ladies! I am eloping before Christmas and have a big dilemma. I have recently lost 20 pounds on Weight Watchers, and I don’t want to wear my old dress.
The dress I originally bought is formal because we had planned on a larger wedding. Now, the dress is a tent…and I feel like maybe I would like to buy a new dress, something for my new and improved body. I would also like it to be more informal, more flirty. I do not want to go to the courthouse and walk through metal detectors in a gown!
I know it’s short notice, so I probably will just order something or buy off the rack and wear it.
Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks!

i think if its not a budgetary issue, i would go for it and get a new, flirty, courthouse-friendly dress! nothing like celebrating an amazing weight loss with a dress to make you feel fantastic! congrats and good luck!
oh, and i dont know what kind of dress you’re looking for, but davids bridal has some super cute little knee-lenth white dresses with boleros – might be something similar to what you’re looking for there

Just get a new dress if you want one. Congratulations on your weight loss! I totally understand you wanting to show it off!
But if you decide you still want your current dress, it is probably alterable. I had my dress taken in from a bridal 8 to a street 0–it was like a tent on me because it literally wouldn’t stay up at all, and they were still able to make it fit like a glove. The sample was big to begin with, but then I lost 15 pounds right before the wedding. Surprisingly it wasn’t excessively expensive or anything– I think $170 total for fairly rushed alterations.

I agree with the other ladies! If it’s in your budget, do it! There are a lot of affordable dresses out there, particularly shorter ones. Get a cute faux fur bolero for around Christmas would be totally appropriate!

Congrats on your weight loss. I think all the things you listed are great reasons to buy a new fabulous dress to wear.

New dress!!! I’m loosing weight for my wedding too and wont let them size me for my dress yet, don’t want an arm and leg in alteration bills. Girl, enjoy, flaunt that weight loss and get a new, sexy, flirty dress that will sett all the alarms off at the court house!!
