Not to burst your bubble, but the weight loss is probably water weight. Typically your body will fluctate several pounds over the course of the day and from day to day by a couple pounds. I wouldn’t mark the weight lost unless you have lost it over the course of a week. It will probably be less discouraging if you weigh yourself every couple days or once a week.

Yeah, that’s water weight and maybe lucky timing of bowel movements and urination. You can really only judge weight loss based on continuing trends over weeks. This is important, because you don’t want to to feel deflated if you weight yourself tomorrow and have gained 2 lbs back. Good luck with the weight loss!

Sure, the scales are usually very generous on the first few days of a diet, but take that motivation and run with it!  I don’t know anything about the diet, but congrats on the loss and good luck in the weeks to come. 🙂

i used dukan for 5 days and then transitioned to a modified south beach to get myself off sugar and other carbs.  the weight loss is your body not gettign any carbs therefore it’s force to use your glycogen reserves for energy.  the glycogen is attached to water molecules so when you burn the glycogen, you also shed the water weight.  realistically you have to remember that 1 pound equals 3500 calories that you either have to burn to not eat.  once you deplete your glycogen reserves, you will the then burn fat/muscle.

don’t be surprised if you eat sugar or carbs for a day and then gain all the water weight back.  dukan and other low carb diets are really not sustainable.  i used it to cut my sugar and carb cravings because i know that those are my weaknesses.  after 5 days of dukan and 9 days of modified south beach, i was able to cut the sugar cravings.  i’ve been on this type of diet before for other reasons so 2 weeks is really not that bad for me anymore.

my weight loss has been slow but steady.  i lost an average of 1-2 pounds a week.
