@shadowblind:  Can you guys just foot the bill for the room in order to keep everyone’s rates down? Did the missing reader put down a deposit?

So, this is two months away… hardly last minute.

How much are we talking here for a night at the B&B?  If it were me I’d probably just plan to pay for the room, and if usher ends up coming through great.  But even if he ends up not being able to pay for it, I’d just gift it to him or another guest that might want it since you’d want to keep it to offset costs anyway (but don’t tell him this until last minute)

@shadowblind:  oh ok. I was thinking it was just one night. I agree that 4 nights/over $500 is more of a hit to take.  If he ends up staying only a couple nights maybe you could communicate that to the other guests if offsetting this room is still cheaper. Like if it was 11 rooms and paying 12 bucks more each to cover the empty room still ends up preserving a $40/night discount or something.

Two months out is a ton of notice, actually. I’m not sure how much notice you were expecting, but that’s way more notice than you should probably have expected. Things happen. You having a lot on your plate isn’t this woman’s fault.

I would find someone to take her place. 4 nights for a wedding is a lot to ask of people, though!
