(Closed) lost almost 20 pounds since the wedding… haven’t changed anything

That si frustrating, but in addition to stress you did change something else. Bodies are subject to the laws of physics and to lose 20 lbs “without changing” anything is really really unlikely. You may have inadvertently started eating slightly less, healthier or exercising harder in addition to sleeping more and having less stress. You are the sum of all your small steps and even small changes across your life can make a difference. 

Whatever it is though congrats!

That sounds like me with baby weight!  With each baby I had, I left the hospital in my pre-maternity jeans!  Smile

My dr. said losing weight can be very troublesome if you are highly stressed.  20 lbs is amazing!  Congrats!

That’s awesome! I agree, I bet that you were just so stressed before the wedding you couldn’t lose a pound, but once the wedding was over, it melted away! Congrats!

stress usually makes your body hold onto more fat though, especially if you’re a stress-eater.

Stress produces cortisol, and cortisol makes it very hard to loose weight. Because you don’t have the stress of the wedding this could be why you are loosing weight.

Have you changed your B/C? Certian BC pills can make it very hard to loose weight.

Anyways Congratulations on the weight loss!!

Were you working out pre-wedding? I find that the more I work out, the more I want to eat and then I just gain weight. I lose weight when I stop working out.

That’s awesome… but … I don’t want to be a debbie downer, but I think you should go to the doctor just in case.  Losing 20 pounds in a month, especially without changing anything, is a lot of weight.  I don’t mean to freak you out but I know someone this happened to and it was a health issue.  In your case, I’m sure it’s not, but you can’t be too careful.

I agree with @EleanorRigby … I wouldn’t freak out or anything, it could be the lack of stress that’s helped you loose weight, but 20 lbs in 3.5 weeks seems pretty extreme.  I’d just call the doctor to check in with them.

I was going to say the same thing as EleanorRigby and Sleepy_Miranda…I think you should check in with your doctor.  It hasn’t even been a month and you’ve lost 20 pounds?  That’s really rapid weight loss, and that can sometimes be indicative of a health issue.  Better be safe and see a doctor!

I also agree to see a doctor. 20 lbs in less than a month is a lot! 5 or maybe 10 lbs. in a month without changing too much seems more likely, so I would contact the doctor just to be on the safe side.

I agree with seeing a doctor. Especially if you don’t think you’ve changed much of your diet or exercise. It would be one thing if you lost 20 pounds over the course of 6 months, but in one month is alarming. So get there STAT!
