Me!  A couple of years ago, while was cleaning the office in our home I took my rings off and set them down.  Two minutes later I looked down at my hands and thought “that’s weird, I could have swore I put my rings on today”…because I had promptly forgotten removing them a few minutes earlier.  I completely tore the house apart searching for them when I saw they weren’t in my jewelry box.  Called every place I’d been recently, and DH even reached out to a DJ friend at a local radio station who described my rings on air and asked for help finding them.  Months went by without finding them, until one day hubby was going through some boxes of paperwork in the office …and discovered my rings at the bottom of the box.  Somehow they had fallen in there while I was cleaning that afternoon, months before.  Best feeling ever, and thank god happened right before we bit the bullet and replaced the engagement ring.  Hope you find yours OP, keep faith that they will turn up !

Oh no, so sorry you’re dealing with that.  I’ve not lost my ering, but I’ve certainly lost other pieces of jewelry that were later found.  About 2 months ago I lost a charm off a braclette (just costume jewelry so I wasn’t too upset about it) and it just turned up last week, fell out of a shoe I was putting on.

You could still find it, good luck with your search

lr0901 :  Me too!

I was at my BIL/SIL’s last Christmas. I don’t usually sleep with my engagement ring on (was engaged at the time) so I took it off and put it in a dixie cup on the nightstand next to me.  The next morning their dog came in and jumped on the bed when my now-husband and I were just getting up.  We went down to eat and I came back upstairs a bit later to get showered.  I noticed the cup was on its side and I tore the room apart as the ring was nowhere to be found.  Long story short, we all looked for it and couldn’t find it.  It caused a lot of tension between us and my SIL.  My Brother-In-Law even took their dog in to get an xray to see if she ate it (she didn’t).

About 3 month later (after I had replaced my ring by filing a claim with the insurance company), my SIL announced that she found my ring.  A lot of the family thought she had taken it but there was no way to prove it.  It didn’t matter, I got my ring back!

I had to return the new ring to the jeweler that the insurance company had me work with, but I was fine with that – that’s what the insurance was for.

Don’t give up hope.  It may turn up!

Yes! I am SO careful with my wedding set so I was completed confused when I couldn’t find it in any of my ring dishes one day. I checked everywhere and even started wondering if my two year old took it, even though he’s just really not likely to do that. It was several days later when I went into the basement to lift weights – just like I did on that fateful day, and there was my set, carefully hanging from a push pin on my bulletin board! I had completely forgotten that I took them off down there because it’s not something I usually do. I always remember to take them off before going downstairs!

I also lost a diamond earring and tore my room and jewelry box apart looking for it. Eventually gave up and figured the Roomba must have gotten it. Found it several months later – IN MY JEWELRY BOX. I have no idea how I missed it the first time around!

lr0901 :  move everything that it could fit under that you can’t just look under to see. I once had a cat that stole jewellery, lighters and disposable razors and the stashed them all under the fridge and stove.

When I was a kid my dad had lost a ring in 2 1/2 acres of over grown lawn AT NIGHT.  We pulled the car into the yard with the headlights on and I found it.  Anything is possible! Sending you good vibes and super sleuth skills.

lr0901 :  I was thinking while reading this whether you have any pets. Sure enough, you mentioned cats.

I bet your cats played around with it. Dig through their litter box and comb your house apart under every piece of furniture and everything. You never know where a cat might have carried it.

I once lost my ring, but I found it in my jacket pocket.

lr0901 :  My sister…..she has an older rambler and there’s a little dish (supposed to be soap dish) where she would set her ring and she always has hair binders on. She has two cats and they LOVE sparkly things and hair binders. While she was taking a shower her cat must have knocked it off the dish. She didn’t notice it wasn’t on her hand until she was almost done with work (was doing homecare nurse at the time). Her and Fiance at the time (now husband) left for vacation that night…she asked me to drive in front of one of her pt’s houses and look in grass, on sidewalk and road just in case that’s where she lost it. They came home from vacation at my parent’s cabin two days early, tore the house apart………..and it ended up being under the scale at the bottom of the closet across from where the sink/dish was. So yes, IT IS POSSIBLE TO FIND AFTER LOSING IN HOUSE, AND YOUR CATS PROBABLY DID PLAY WITH IT (or eat it?).

lr0901 :  any chance you thought “oh, I shouldn’t leave it out in the open, I’ll just tuck it in this sock drawer/junk drawer/under my pillow/in the mattress/on top of the fridge/some other place you’d consider “safe””? I think it’s encouraging that you possibly put it somewhere and thought it was a bad idea! Haha, I have definitely done that before, and it’s always thrown me for a loop!

sunnierdaysahead2 :  I remember the thread you started about this! Glad to see the ring was eventually found, even though you had a new one made! lol

lr0901 :  I’m sure it will turn up! I used to wear a ring that my grandmother gave me every day. Somehow it slipped off of my finger and I thought it was lost forever, which really upset me. I’m into psychics and while I was getting a reading, I brought it up and she told me that it was not lost forever and that it would turn up. Sure enough, about a month or so after I had lost the ring, I was cleaning my closet and found it in a stack of folded clothes. Sometimes our jewelry gets lost in the weirdest places!

I had a similar issue.

I took my engagement ring off to do the dishes and set it in a dish on the counter.  I then went to the bathroom.  When I got done with the dishes, one of the kitties had taken it.  FI and I TORE the apartment apart.  Utterly, totally, and completely frantic and found nothing.  We were poor and couldn’t afford to get another one so after I cried, I dealt with it.

Three months later, I got up and found it on the floor in front of the sofa.  One of my two furry terrorists had dropped it and I snagged it fast.

Yes! Wasnt engagement ring, but my cat played with my ring. I found it under a small table in the corner of a room. I missed it twice. I just kept looking, even in places I had looked in already.
