if him not having a job doesnt affect the wedding I say go for it – my husband recently lost his job as well (which we considered pretty secure considering his father is CEO) but shit happens…my husband told me the other day “thank god for you, i would never have gotten through this on my own” I look at it this way…you are going to hit roadbumps in your marriage, it wont be the last time one of you is unemployed but better to do it together than alone so i see no reason to postpone the wedding – it just gives you something to work toward together, support him, push him and build him up. guys thrive on being the provider and it hurts their ego when they can’t…i would just continue on and support him in his job hunt as best you can – at least the wedding gives you something to look forward to ya know? then you can start your lives together as a team.

oh and good luck to your fiance! job hunting is stressful – i turned to my parents a lot in the weeks following his layoff, i knew they had been in this position before and to me it was really frightening – i obviously talked to my husband too but talking to them eased my stress because god knows we would barely survive on my paycheck alone. They were tons of help and eased my concious a bit by sharing their experiences. I looked at it as our first hiccup of many in our marriage – it tests your strength and devotion as a couple.

Keep planning the wedding. A marriage is not about who has a job and who doesn’t. I can certainly understanding wanting to be financially stable before getting married, but if you two are ready, then I say go for it. It will be tough without a job, but hopefully he will find something soon!!
