I lost a 2.3 carat round brilliant center stone many years ago, and my insurance company paid out.  Oh, that hurt; it fell right out of the setting.  Then I lost a tennis bracelet a couple of years later – which was actually stolen by one of the guys installing our alarm system if you can believe that.  He was arrested shortly therafter. I had put it in a hidden suit pocket figuring that was enough.  Stupid, stupid me.

We still have the same insurance company and they get a lot of business with our home and my husband’s office.  Our credit is excellent, but I don’t know if they ever looked at it.  Now I have a safe for my jewelry both upstairs and in the basement and I use them both.

I feel for you and I really hope that everything works out!

Don’t withdraw the claim.  It is a legitimate claim.  There’s no reason why they shouldn’t pay you for it.  I’m so sorry this happened, and I’m sure it’s nerve-wracking.  I wish you all the best, and I hope it turns out okay.

Can you go look through the trash compactor bags? I mean it may not be fun or pretty, but if you can borrow a metal detector maybe you’ll have some luck? I’d probably try for a bit, but 400 bags, that’s a lot of trash :(.

I’m an insurance agent, and when a company investigates, as long as you are willing to answer all and any questions, they pay your claim. Seeing as how this is your second claim within a year, there will be more investigations, and you may not be able to schedule any personal property on your homeowner’s policy anymore.

I wish you the best of luck!
