- Wedding: March 2013
Most people would be happy about losing more than 20 lbs before their wedding (and I am), but it has me somewhat nervous about my dress. I went from a size 12 to a size 8 and I’m anticipating losing another 5-10 lbs within the next couple of months.
I bought my dress last March, when I was at my heaviest. I loved it then, but I knew I wanted/needed to lose weight. At the time that I bought it, I was a street size 12, but I ordered a size 14 gown, because I needed the extra room for my bust – knowing even then, it would have to be taken in elsewhere.
It’s a strapless satin gown with a fitted bodice that flares out at the low waist into a full pleated skirt. The last time I tried it on, it was already loose on me. I mean, it was wearable, but I was starting to lose the vision of “my dress,” because I knew it needed to be tighter on me for it to look how it’s supposed to. I’ve lost more weight since the last time I tried it on and now I’m too nervous to keep trying it on.
I have an independent seamstress with a good reputation that I’m taking it to, but I’m anxious for reassurance that a) it can be taken in as much as it needs to be and b) that it’ll still look good once taken in. With the wedding next March and a few more pounds to go, I don’t know what to do next. Do I just suck it up, keep going and wait until January/February to go in for my first fitting? Do I go see her sooner in current state and just make sure she can work with it?
Am I worrying over nothing? Help!
