I deal with FedEx everyday.

This is normal for them unfortunately. They lose the package or deliver with no signature required. A lot of my companies merchandise is stolen by them. I have to contact the shipper and the shipper should follow claim with FedEx.

Have you contacted the company/shipper? Don’t back down from FedEx, they easily manipulate you until you give up and they geup away with your goods.

FedEx once sent a $70,000 equipment shipment to the Azores (!!!!!) instead of California.
They found it a year later.

There’s nothing you can do except have the jeweler make an insurance claim and get a refund.

@peachbaby4008:  This is normal? Please elaborate! I’m starting to think I shouldn’t trust FedEx with anything…

I am very sorry to hear about this – something similar (though on a much smaller scale) happened to me with a DHL parcel. The courier simply left the package, and of course a neighbour with sticky fingers swiped it (but we didn’t know this at the time). Initially, DHL was very unhelpful when I called and asked about the missing package (it showed on tracking as “delivered”). They claimed that because they have an agreement with the vendor to “leave at secure premise”, the courier did nothing wrong. And because it’s a Friday afternoon, they can’t do a thing until Monday.

I was beyond livid and managed to find the contact details of the DHL’s senior manager in Australia, wrote an email of the problem, and informed them I will also contact the vendor about this issue (I c’c them in the correspondence). Within two hours, I got a call from DHL, saying that they are sending same guy who made the delivery earlier in the day to our place. Luckily, he managed to retrieve the parcel from our *&%^@%!* neighbour.

My advice would be to find out who is your area’s senior FedEx manager/complaint person’s contact details (or the senior management). Write a concise email stating the issue, and provide a timeline of what happened, and what FedEx has done so far. Include the vendor in your email. Be polite, but very clear that you are disappointed with the lost/stolen parcel as well as how FedEx has handled it, and what you would like as a satisfactory outcome. I know that with all the public holidays, it is difficult to get hold of people, but writing the issue and start the complaint process will get some of the frustration out of your chest.

Good luck OP, I really hope the ring will be recovered.

This is pretty normal for them. Unfortunately it’s worse if they know it is a high priced item (say it says Zales, EBay, etc…) on the box.

They will say it was delivered, and no signature required, but in fact they do not even attempt delivery. Or they will simply put lost in transit In hopes that you will go after the shipper and not FedEx. They drag it out until finally you give up trying.

@MissLibra:  I would definately contact (since 1910) and be sure they file claim!! If its a reputable dealer they should handle FedEx themselves and give you a refund.

Omg, can’t Surprised!  Wish I had some helpful words but this is my, and many others’, nightmare.

Yes, agree w/ the others; contact the shipper asap, keep in constant contact w/ Fedex (hope you got that extra insurance on it, it sounds like you did but it’s late after NYr’s hungover and have three computer monitors going and sleepy so not sure, but hope you did).  Holy crap, hell to pay; someone better find that package!  ugh

@peachbaby4008:  WOW. They actually steal it? An employee steals it and hopes they get to keep it and never return it? They should videotape all packages i.e. have them under surveillance at all times.

I was in contact with Since1910 several months back as my partner and I were at the time looking at purchasing a Tacori from them. The customer service representative told me that the item in transit is insured up to the point where I sign for the package (this was to Australia), so I think you will be ok in getting your money back or a replacement ring. Although, it is disappointing that you’ve been put through this trouble and stress 🙁
