Congrats on exercising more!  It’s a huge accomplishment. I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you can’t spot reduce an area. The more weight you lose (with lots of cardio and weight training, as well as eating right), the smaller your “love handles” (and the rest of you) will get. Some people lose weight more quickly from one area than another, but there’s really nothing you can do to “force” it from one area versus the other.

Doing too many side crunches can actually give you the illusion of being thicker, because if the fat isn’t gone from there, you’ll have added muscle and have more bulk. I’m not saying don’t do them, but don’t go crazy with them.

It’s been my experience that you lose 1-2 inches in the waist with about every 10 pound loss.

Cardio, cardio cardio (and decrease caloric intake)

Unfortunately as bluebook said there is no way to spot reduce and you lose fat evenly over your entire body and so to lose it in the unwanted areas it takes longer because more has accumulated there!

The only solid way is have more calories being expended than being consumed!

Diet, primarily, and cardio will get rid of fat.  Side crunches will only build up the muscle underneath the fat.  I’m not saying that building up those muscles is bad, but it’s not the answer to your question.

If you’re size 6-8 then keep on doing the arm exercises.  You don’t have much fat on your arms at your size so you will be able to see the muscle building up underneath.

There is no such thing as “tone”!!!  This is a pet peeve of mine.  There is losing fat, and there is building muscle.  Think about your anatomy.  There is no “tone” layer.  There’s a fat layer covering a muscle layer.  Your arms aren’t fat, so you can easily see the muscle building underneath.
