You can always make changes to a house, you can’t really make changes to a neighborhood.

I would rather love my neighborhood and like my house.  A house can be changed, a neighborhood really cannot.

@hotpinkbride:  I need more details about what makes the neighborhood with the great house just okay.

It looks like I’m in the minority according to the poll results, but I’d personally rather have the house that I love.  I’m a big “nest” person, and my house is my sanctuary.  If I’m so-so on it, it might not ever feel totally right to me, and most people buy homes with the plan to stay for a while!  Neighborhoods also can change/grow over time.  As long as your reason for feeling on the fence about the neighborhood is NOT your personal safety, I’d personally go for the house that I love. Good luck in your decision!

Don’t buy a house you are not willing to live in for at least 5-7 years.  What do you not like about the house?  I can tell you that unless you build a new house, you may never find a house that you love.  Living in a great neighborhood is important for safety, friendships, schools, location in regards to work, etc….

@hotpinkbride:  What is so bad about the neighborhood?  Are you in a city or the suburbs?

I say choose a neighborhood you like better then the house. Especially school district!
