I finally found a couple of dresses that I like! I love the dress below, however, the lining of the sample I tried on was in cafe (or some brownish color). I would like my dress to be over an ivory lining, but the consultant and the bridal shop told me that she would not recommend I order this particular dress over ivory. She said that she recently had a bride order the same dress with an ivory lining and for one reason or another, the lace ontop looked yellowish in comparison to the lining, even though both the the lace and lining were in ivory. She said that this doesn’t seem to be a problem with the designer, only with that particular dress. I’m so torn because I really love this dress! Does anyone have any advice?

I think keep on looking at other strapless sheath dresses if this one has some perculiarity with the colouring.

If a consultant is telling you not to buy a dress I would listen. She could’ve very easily said nothing and you would’ve been left with the same problem the other bride had. I think it’s good she was honest with you and I’d take it as a sign to keep looking.

above makes very a good point. Also, this dress appears to become almost see-through mid-thigh, surely accidental?

I’m not sure why the dress looked like 2 different colors. The bottom half definitely had a “cafe” lining underneath it, it just looks sheer in the photo! I think it may be because the lace towards the top was much denser than the lace on the bottom. That being said, the dress looks wonderful in ivory on the designer’s website. Super bumming.
The dress is actually a modified A-line. It was just about 4 sizes too big! I definitely won’t be ordering it after what the consultant said. 🙂

Have you seen Tracey by Maggie Sotterro? It looks super similar

I agree with seegee
, but I also think that you might consider how changing the lining to be similar in shade to the lace changes the look of the dress overall; namely you’d lose all that detail and patterning that you can see in this version with the cafe underlay. I think that the dress looks beautiful on you, but tbh, a strapless, sweatheart-neckline, lace, modified aline/soft fit-and-flare isn’t an unusual silhouette (my sister tried on like, forty dresses that look like yours), so if you’re not sure about this one, ask for more versions.

What’s wrong with the cafe color underneath the ivory lace? I think it’s beautiful and unique.
