Amy Elizabeth :  I’m a destination wedding photographer who shoots primarily beach weddings of all sizes! What kind of info are you wanting to know?

A lot of my helpful tips can be venue/location specific. Where are you getting married?

On our elopement day my fiance and I will be visiting our first date spot (coffee shop) in the morning, from there we are going to the courthouse for a civil ceremony (just the two of us). After that we are headed to the airport for our honeymoon in Mexico. I’m planning on our photographer going with us to those 3 locations; coffee shop, courthouse, airport. When we return we are hosting a dinner party for our immediate family, which will also be photographed. Its all going to be nice and casual- just how I like it!

We are anticipating the whole thing to be less than 5k. Cant wait!

Amy Elizabeth :  Thats the million dollar question! I think ill look for a ”little white dress” casual and chic. I’m 5 foot and 95 lbs so a traditional style wedding dress likely would have overpowered me anyway. I’m looking forward to the search! Since our dinner party will be outside, I’ll probably even throw a sweater on over top of it! I think I’ll wear the dress to the courthouse and also to the dinner party 🙂
Thanks for letting me share!

We had a wedding, but I wanted a special day just for us. So we had our own ceremony and private dinner on the beach on our honeymoon in Jamaica. It cost us $8000 for our vacation, but the ceremony and dinner only cost us about $1,500. We read our own vows and it was just the two of us, the resort wedding coordinator, and her assistant. It was a symbolic ceremony since we were already married. It was a perfect day, we were so relaxed. After our ceremony and photos, we hung out in our room until our dinner was ready and someone brought us down to the beach. I changed into a shorter dress because I was dying from the heat. After dinner, we were able to catch the nighttime show (all of them were so good each night!) and we hung out with some of the friends we’d made and had a few drinks and snacks until 1 am or so. They had drawn a bath for us when we got back to our room, but we were out having so much fun, it was cold!

Amy Elizabeth :  We got married in Tofino, BC (GORGEOUS GORGEOUS PLACE on Vancouver Island) It was an elopement package with Long Beach Lodge Resort. We got married this June and the weather just turned out to be perfect for us. The food was great, the views were amazing and they are super pet friendly and everyone one there is so friendly, kind and helpful. My husbands dress shirt was too large and one of the gentlemen who worked there went home to find a shirt that could fit him! Anyone who has ever thought to go to Tofino, definitely should.

We eloped back in the fall in the mountains. We drove, which allowed us to bring a ton of stuff, and a of those things ended up being really important to me:

-I brought a pair of Swarovski chapagne flutes gifted by my boss. We used them for our wedding toast with my favorite spluge champagne. I would make sure you have some lovely keepsakes, which is easy to overlook. I never would’ve bought myself the flutes or thought twice about it, but I am so, so glad to have them now with this beautiful memory attached.

-DH brought his guitar and sang the song he wrote for my processional. Make the most of having a super-intimate ceremony, whatever that means for you. I am not sappy by nature, but our sunset ceremony was the most romantic half-hour imaginable. We wrote our own vows, etc.

-We bought our favorite pie from the pie shop where we got engaged, packed it in a cooler for the two-day drive, and had that in lieu of wedding cake. I know that lots of resorts have elopement packages where they handle all the lovely details down to the wedding cake-for-two, but it is YOUR major life event, and it should feel like yours. The extra effort for special little details (as much as I was not super interested in planning them) was absolutely worthwhile.

I’m getting married in 7 weeks on a beach in French Polynesia. We hired a weddin planner / officiant there, she is French and she is planning the whole thing. It’s very simple. I wanted to honeymoon in a tropical place so that determined the wedding location.

We need to pick out a suit for my fiancé having a hard time deciding on what color. I got a dusty blue toned wedding dress still bridal but that pale blue color so it kinda throws everything off a bit.
