i am sorry you have to do this, jobs where you do nothing can be boring, i once folded papers and delivered them to my local area, did about 130-150 papers, each paper had two advertising inserts I had to put in, I had to walk and deliver them every week for $35, a week. Boring as hell for such little money, boy was I glad to stop that when I started my current job! 

Maybe in the email mention that you have been observing your superiors and what they do, and learning from that, and also that you have developed your skills in being assertive and asking to be given tasks.
