@mrand2008: My Fiance got me a gorgeous set, tri-color gold and diamond. I LOVE it, and have gotten many compliments. Purchased through amazon. It also is about what you want to wear decades form now, not what will look flashy and fancy now. He got me the set, which was I think close to $400, by Coleman; got an enhancer for close to $180, by TwoBirch.

A lot of mom and pop jewelry stores have estate jewelry that you can get beautiful rings for way less than in a chain store. Or a lot of stores have a previously owned sections, you can look there too! Or craigslist or pawn shops. I dont know your feelings on second hand rings. I dont believe in bad juju or any of that, so I looked at and have actually purchased jewelry from all of the places ive mentioned!! You can do a lot with a $500 budget! You just have to shop around!! =)

I wish when I was ring shopping with my Fiance I did more research. Because if I could have gotten something different other than the “typical” diamond like a moissanite or other gems I could have been more happier . watching my Fiance pay more than the budget for my ring ( it was a beautiful moment for us both I’ll never take that back) it made me sick to my stomach. :(( I was told all my life a diamond is a girls best friend so I thought there was no other gem that would associate with the term “engagement” ring. My Mom was all over “diamond” within the two years of dating my FH…and heck I hate jewelry to begin with!!! My Fiance paid for my princess halo for $2500 it was on sale. (Wedding band included) But buying it in the store obviously the jewelers will hatch on anything to get their cut, besides he had to pay for the insurance and other blah blah contract blah blah….which hatched on another $1000.
Gosh. If only I had researched I would have gotten something half that price. $1400 under or something. Well… I definitely won’t be upgrading.
Here’s my ring for reference. Its a half carat princess cut with a cushion halo. If sparkles like crazy. I love halos!!!
Poor Fiance and his wallet…. 😢
And I see people having rings that cost up to $25,000-$50,000 that’s silly. That’s a house payment or a car!!! This world….

My ring is a promise ring from Kays, and literally everytime I tell people its a promise ring, they tell me it looks like an engagement ring. I think it was around $250 or so. Its 14k white gold and has rose gold on the sides with heart details….

Hai
I bought my engagement ring online only.
They have many collection like engrave ring, fingerprint ring, wedding date engrave ring, customized ring etc.,
I bought a simple fingerprint ring with engravings on each. It cost around $500 only.

We didn’t have a small budget but I picked my ring and always said I couldn’t justify letting my Fiance spend too much on a ring.
I picked out this ring. I wouldn’t have wanted anything big anyway. It’s perfect for me. I couldn’t love a ring more. It’s a 0.20ct diamond in white gold. So simple and perfect.
(Excuse my badly painted, stubby nails. I’m cutting them short because I’m learning to play the guitar).

Try etsy! My fiance got me a custom wedding band and engagement ring for a quarter of the price form a diamond store! It ended up appraising much higher than he paid for it

Flea Market e-ring (had to get a new setting for the main stone though because the setting it came with made the main stone very loose), and Ebay wedding band. For both rings in total = $610. Got the e-ring and wedding band sautered together 🙂
