Sugar-free instant Oatmeal (100 calories per pack, I can only find VONS brand)
Quaker weight control is also good and has 160 calories, has more oatmeal and tastes better than the sugar-free kind
Try adding dried fruit, a chopped up apple or chopped nuts or a pack of sugar free/no-sugar added hot cocoa to the oatmeal for something different (fresh banana is good too)
Use two waffles (180 calories for 2 – I couldn’t find lite waffles) & to top them off – warm up strawberries (or other berries) & sugar-free or lite syrup in a pan (be careful if you make it too hot it makes the waffles mushy) in that case just keep it on the side and dip the waffles in it – you can also add lite cool-whip – I used ¼ cup syrup and 1/2 cup of strawberries for two waffles, then topped off with cool whip
Light Yoplait yogurt (100 calories and lots of choices)
Morning Star Sausage Patties (80 calories per patty and microwaveable). I scramble eggs, low-fat cheese and sausage (cut up) and eat in a corn tortilla (110 calories for 2 tortillas) with salsa or make a breakfast burrito using the La Tortilla Factory wraps.
100 calorie English Muffins (add light cream cheese and sliced deli meat for a breakfast sandwich under 250 calories)
Southbeach Cereal Bars (140 calories – good for when you are tired of yogurt for breakfast)
Special K protein meal bars (180 calories) they taste like dessert
Smart Ones now have breakfast sandwiches and quesadillas, I have tried them all and I think the least fake tasting one is the Canadian bacon English muffin sandwich, but they are all pretty decent.
Lean Pockets breakfast pockets are also good
LUNCH & DINNER
Lean Pockets – 280 calories (cheeseburger, 3-cheese quesadilla and meatball and cheese are some of my favorites)
Smart Ones Dinners (they are much better than most lean cuisines and it seems like they have more food – some of my favorites are thai chicken and noodles and chicken and broccoli alfredo)
Soup (low in calories & fills you up, I get the small microwaveable ones at Target and have one with a lean cuisine or smart ones dinner)
Cheese & jalapeno tamales (frozen) from Trader Joe’s (280 calories but watch out they have 15 grams of fat, so only have occasionally)
Teriyaki chicken (150 cal per 1 cup), shrimp fried rice (160 cal per 1 cup) and mandarin chicken (230 cal per serv) from Trader Joe’s are also really easy to make, cheap and filling – even my boyfriend likes them
Trader Joe’s also has a Garlic Chicken Pasta frozen mix I make the whole bag and ½ of it has I think around 440 calories, I would order this in a restaurant.
Trader Joe’s Multi-Grain Fat Free wheat (I think it says wheat) bread. Two pieces of the bread are 140 calories and it’s really good in the toaster with I can’t believe it’s not butter spray.
Lean Cuisines pizzas and panini’s (the chicken club and southwest chicken panini’s are yummy, I don’t really like the beef ones L as for the pizza I like the three meat pizzas and the barbecue chicken)
Lean Cuisine flat bread sandwiches are 330 calories and a good size (the chicken philly and ranch ones are really good)
The Lean Cuisine Chicken Fried Rice bowls are 280 calories and are very filling for the amount of calories.
Tyson teriyaki already cooked chicken breasts (130 calories per breast – also available in mesquite flavor – but teriyaki is better) – From Costco in the frozen section – microwave for about 2 minutes and they are ready to go, great to cut up for salad or to add to a meal.
A good idea for the chicken breasts is make a sandwich with low-fat cheese, pickles and barbecue sauce – very filling and satisfying!!!
Tyson already cooked chicken strips (frozen, 110 calories for 3 ounces, the size of a deck of cards, all you have to do is microwave and you can throw on salads or make a quesadilla in a low calorie wrap)
La Tortilla Factory low calorie wraps they are available in different kinds and are 90 calories. I have tried the white flour one (they have like 6 kinds) and I did not taste a chemical taste (I got them from VONS). Make sandwiches, burritos or quesadillas in them for less than half the calories of a regular tortilla or bread for a sandwich. They are pricey 6 for $4.00 but they are worth it!!!
Cedarlane Organic rice, bean and cheese burritos from Costco, I also saw them at Albertson’s sold per burrito they have 260 calories and keep you full for a long time, I really like them with a piece of sliced cheese melted on top
Make a can of green beans simmered with a couple spoons of salsa (drain about 1/2 of the water) – you can eat the whole can for under 100 calories and they taste wonderful
VONS has broccoli with potatoes and cheese for 100 calories per cup (Safeway brand) and it doesn’t taste fake – check out the frozen vegetable section at your grocery store they have lots of different kinds that can be stuck in a bowl and microwaved or even steamed in their own bag
Microwave a regular or sweet potato and use I can’t believe it’s not butter spray this is a very filling addition to your dinner.
Kens Steakhouse Lite Asian Sesame Dressing (70 calories for two tablespoons – does not taste LITE!!) use with chicken, mandarin oranges and sunflower seeds to make a salad
The Kraft Free salad dressings are really good – I have tried the Ranch, Blue Cheese and Thousand Island and they all were really good for the amount of calories (I think 45 calories for two tablespoons)
Newman’s Lite Raspberry & Walnut Salad Dressing (70 calories for two tablespoons – does not taste LITE!!) use with chicken, dried cranberries and sunflower seeds or walnuts for a salad
Dennison’s turkey chili tastes great and is very filling (210 for 1 cup – the whole can is 2 cups). It’s really good with low-fat cheese and the reduced fat cheese-its!!!
If you are a coffee drinker and have your coffee with your creamer like I do, the sugar-free vanilla and hazelnut creamers by Coffee Mate are really good
Reduced Fat Cheez-Its (29 crackers for 130 calories)
Baked Doritos (120 or 130 calories for 15 chips)
Baked Cheetos (approx 34 pieces for 130 calories)
Light Ruffles (no fat!!! 75 calories for 15 chips)
Rold-Gold Cheese Flavored pretzels (110 calories for 20)
Pop-Secret popcorn 100 calorie packs
Orville Redenbacher 100 calorie pack of kettle corn – yummy
Cheddar or Ranch flavored rice cakes (70 calories for 9 cheddar cakes or 70 calories for 10 ranch cakes). They satisfy that crunch urge – Target has them for pretty cheap – the caramel ones are also a nice sweet treat
No Fat Pringles (14 chips for 70 calories) I get them at Target
No Sugar Added Apple Sauce (50 or 60 calories) the blueberry one has lots of flavor
Sugar-free pudding and Jello (low in calories) – the dulce de leche one is yummy
Special K bars (90 calories) good for when you need something for not so many calories
Kashi Go Lean Protein and Fiber bars (150 – 180 calories) they taste good and are convenient to put in your purse and have when you get hungry but don’t want to stop at Fast Food and waste all your calories (you can get a variety box with 3 different kinds at Sam’s Club – you can get them sold separately at Trader Joe’s)
Sweet & Salty Nut granola bar – 160 calories and super yummy – hits the spot – I really like the Roasted Mixed Nut one
Dreyers Fruit Bars (80 calories, strawberry ones taste like a margarita on a stick! The tangerine and grape ones also are good)
Weight Watchers giant cookies and cream bars (140 calories and worth every single calorie)
Skinny cow ice cream sandwiches (140 calories – Some have more calories – more like ice milk than ice cream, but still yummy)
Healthy Choice Fudge bars (90 calories – they sell these in big boxes at Costco)
Sugar free Werther’s or Baskin Robbins hard candies (good for when you need something sweet)
Sugar-free pudding and Jello (low in calories) – the dulce de leche pudding one is yummy
Warm sliced apples (microwave) with cinnamon and splenda
Smart ones desserts, usually in a different section than the entrees – I like the éclairs & chocolate chip cookie w/ice cream ones
Melt 2 tbsp of semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave for 40 seconds and use to dip fruit in
Frozen yogurt – I found Wow Cow frozen yogurt at Paradise Yogurt (College Area and Mission Valley) it has about 120 – 150 calories for a small and is heavenly – it is very satisfying
Dreyers Slow Churned Nestle Crunch ice cream bars are 150 calories and don’t taste diet (my boyfriend eats them & doesn’t know!!!)
El Pollo Loco chicken breasts they have like 160 calories!!!!!!!!!! Yum J
Subway sandwiches on wheat bread, without mayo and cheese have only 280 calories including pickles, olives and pepperchinis (sp?)
Broccoli and beef at Panda Express (150 calories per serving) a serving is basically one of their scoops that they use for their entrees – I took it home and used my scale to measure J, they also have other higher calorie entrees like Mandarin Chicken (250 calories per serving) – see Calorie King.com for other options
Boston Market – I haven’t had them lately, but I checked out their calories and they have a lot of lower calorie items.
When running around and Fast Food is your only option go for the Barbecue Chicken Sandwich it isn’t actually that bad calorie wise
Add salsa to your food – it makes up for some missed flavor
For sandwiches add pickles and pepperchinis and only use mustard to cut out the calories from the mayo
When you buy light cheese get the stronger ones like sharp cheddar to make up for the lighter taste, it makes a big difference.
For drinking alcohol use diet soda
Get the Calorie Fat & Carbohydrate pocket book put out by Calorie King – it will give you new ideas and has 200 fast food restaurants in the back – you can’t always look up stuff on the internet and the book is small enough to keep in your car, purse, etc.
