Your symptoms sound like a classic case of PCOS. I have it as well.  Metformin is great!  Don’t get discouraged by the tummy troubles when you start taking it.  They are temporary!

Although I did try Clomid, it never worked for me.  I am currently 17 weeks pregnant with my second child.  I did not need Clomid to concieve either time.  The Metformin alone regulated my cycles!

I should also mention, if you are ever looking to lose weight, I found that the combination of the Metformin plus the Weight Watchers program to work great!  It seems WW is an effective program for people with PCOS, as long as you stay away from the processed foods (like the frozen meals).

Losing weight always helps PCOS symptoms!!  And helps with fertility!

It’s hard to say because I actually did the Clomid first, then a combination of the two.  Turns out Clomid was actually preventing me from getting pregnant!  Making the eggs hostile or something!

I actually got pregnant my very first month off the Clomid.  So I’m not sure how long the Met had been regulating me as it was masked by the forced Clomid cycles.  In addition to the Met, losing 15 lbs made a huge difference.  I had started the weightloss while on both medications. The 15 lbs put me into a healthy BMI.  So really that cycle I got pregnant was on Met with a healthy BMI.
