I am 5w 6d and I have been dealing with low progesterone. Started at 20. One week later,it dropped to 15 so they put me on Progesterone 100mg once a day. Went yesterday which is one week on Progesterone and it is at 15.8. They are increasing me to 200mg once a day now. Anyone dealt with this and how worried should I be? We are doing a big announcement to my close family on Saturday. If this is a potential loss,I may wait and save myself the heartache. I also have an ultrasound on July 2nd to check on things and I’m hoping we see something!

I am sorry you are dealing with this. Low progesterone ended in a loss for me but one of my closest friends went along and had a health baby, it’s so hard to tell.
Can you wait till after your scan to do your announcement?

As I understand it, there is an extremely wide range of “normal” for progesterone, with the average being 12-20 in the first 5-6 weeks. So you’re right in there. Do you know if your HCG is doubling appropriately?

my experience with progesterone is because i did IVF. we told a few close family and friends after the positive beta. but for most close family, we waited until heartbeat was confirmed. since your u/s isn’t so far away, can you wait until then.

tiffanybruiser : They didn’t check them last time I went but prior to this I was doubling. I think I went from 38 to over 2000 in one week.

Are you taking oral, vaginal or injections? Vaginal will not show up in the blood work, oral will mostly metabolize by time it gets absorbed and wont really show up in blood work either, and I believe injections should show up the most in blood work.

megan28937 : I would definitely wait. It’s still so early and you will have a better idea of how things are progressing (or not) after your scan. I had low P and there was nothing to see at my 6wk scan, followed by a MC later that day. I don’t want to scare you but I also want to save you from having to un-tell all those happy family members if the scan doesn’t go well. You might still be sharing your loss with them but at least you will save them from the roller coaster of high excitement to low saddness. Just my 2 cents. Good luck bee, I hope this babe hangs on for you and you have a great scan on the 2nd!

It’s so hard not to worry, follow your doctors instructions and try to stay positive. With my daughter my progesterone was at a 6! It was terrifying, but everything worked out beautifully
Just me, I would wait until the end of the first trimester to share.
