I have been experiencing a lot of lower back pain on the right side for about a week now. I am about 5 weeks pregnant and sometimes the pain shoots down to my butt cheek. I really feel it when I am sitting down, and it helps when I am up and walking. I can’t even bend over and stretch to touch my toes it hurts so bad. Is this common in pregnancy or what is wrong with me?

It’s very normal. I didn’t start at 5 weeks, but your body is getting prepared for the baby. Your back might get worse as your back arches more, as the baby grows. It helps to use a belly band later in pregnancy, maybe the 2nd trimester they sell it at Target Stores. It’ll help you hold up the weight of your baby, and help you with back aches.

Yes and I feel your paine. The night before I took my pregnancy test I remember sitting on the couch almost in tears. I had never had lower back pain like that before.

I, too, had a lot of lower back pain early in pregnancy. But, if you’re concerned, ask your OB.
