We went to Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica for our honeymoon….it was THE most amazing place on earth. We have been back for 4 months but not a day goes by that I don’t think about it. I really want to go back THIS year, but that is probably not do-able since we will be starting the construction of our new home soon….but a girl can dream, right?! I wanted to make this board so those of us who have been to any Couples resort can talk about the wonderful resorts. SO who has been there, which resort did you stay at, and what was your favorite part? Also, have any of you been back since your honeymoon?!

@cherrycoke: I haven’t ever been, but I was wondering what the approx. cost was? We never went on a honeymoon and I would LOVE to surprise Darling Husband with a trip sometime in the next couple of years.

@shambley: We spent about $3700 for 8 nights. That also included about $300 for trip insurance, since we went in October (hurricane season). However, the weather was about as perfect as we could expect (only rained a couple times & then it was gone). Couldn’t say enough great things about our entire experience!

@cherrycoke: Wow, that is super reasonable for that much time spent on the resort! It is all-inclusive, correct? And does that include airfare? I’d love to know any reccomendations you have about what type of room to stay in, what to do, etc.

@shambley: Yes, it’s all-inclusive & adults only, which was great. Airfare was included in the $3700. We originally booked with a garden verandah suite, but we upgraded to the atrium suite when we got there. It was a nice room, but honestly, if I were to go back again, I would go with the cheapest room b/c we were basically only in there to sleep..otherwise we were outside. Basically, we just relaxed on the beach, ate A LOT, sipped on the yummy drinks, and at night we checked out the piano bar, martini bar, we went to Margaritaville (but if you go there, only get a small margarita. They gave us a bong & a mixer when we went there, we got our margs in there and it was $37, which was a rip off since we could have gotten a “free” one back at the resort). We went snorkeling twice, we did the catamaran cruise (all included in your stay). You can do about as much or as little as you’d like!

We went to CSS last June/early July, and let’s just say I’ve been daydreaming about being back during this dreary February!
Loved it very much and am trying to convince Darling Husband we should go back this year or to CN/CSA.

@cherrycoke: That sounds so wonderful! All of it! I’m thinking I might try to plan something over Thanksgiving depending on his work schedule.. he’s going to be starting a new job in May and I’m worried he won’t get much vacation time during the first year

@hisgoosiegirl: You will LOVE the beaches of Negril! If we go back, I think we’d go to CN – since we’ve already been to CSA, but I definitely want to go back to Negril.
@shambley: I promise you, you won’t regret it!

Oh, and I meant to ask… is there transportation to/from the airport or do you have to pay?

@shambley: Transportation is included. You will fly into Montego Bay, and then you’ll take a bus/van to the resort! You get to bring Red Stripe on the bus (they have a Couples lounge in the airport that provides it). 🙂

Y’all are killing me! I can’t decide if I want to switch to Swept Away! We are going to Sandals Whitehouse for the same price (which is a deal!) We will never get to go Sandals for this price again. That is the only thing keeping me from switching. Did you all like being in Negril or would you have preferred to be more secluded during your honeymoon? Whitehouse isn’t near ANYTHING.

@Willow1991: I LOVED Negril (if you can’t tell from above). It didn’t seem busy either, but maybe that’s b/c we went in October? Are you going in October as well? I don’t know what to tell you about switching but I have not heard 1 bad thing about any of the Couples resorts…

@cherrycoke: Yup it would be October. I am a little concerned about the rain too.

@Willow1991: It rained twice when we were there…and not all day. But it is a chance you have to take :/

So glad to hear you had such a wonderful time! I’ve been researching Tower Isle and San Souci for our honeymoon next year.
