My Mother-In-Law is sweet, she has already offered to pay for things that I didnt even think I wanted haha

She has ideas that I do not share the interest in, but she is nice about it and is not upset if I tell her “No, that’s not really my style”.

It’s not always “OMG my Mother-In-Law is driving me nuts” at least not for me 😀

That’s nice to hear!

My Future Mother-In-Law also did a bit of research after we got engaged and found out about rehearsal dinners (she had never heard of one before).  She pooh-pooh’ed the idea months ago, which was secretly disappointing to me, since I plan to have one whether she hosts it or not.  HOWEVER, last week she brought it up again and asked me if I would like to have one and I said yes and now she’s going to host it!  So, I’m thrilled since I didn’t really expect any contribution from his parents.  Woo hoo!

I LOVE hearing stories about other bees who love their MIL’s. I adore my future mother in law! She is sooo sweet and thoughtful. She even texted me on Valentine’s Day (but no my FI) to say how much she loves me and she can’t wait to call me her daughter.  =o)

However, our relationship wasn’t always like this. She was very cold and distant with me in the beginning. The first time I went to hug my future Mother-In-Law she literally cringed and pulled away. I vowed to never hug her again. But then, my best friend (now MOH) told me to do the opposite. She told me EVERY time I see her to hug her and greet her warmly. It only took a couple of times and then suddenly she was coming to me for hugs. It feels really great to have such a close relationship with her so I am so glad I made the effort. So, that is the best piece of advice I can give anyone. Even if their Mother-In-Law seems cold and distant the best way to counteract that is will love and affection. In fact, Fiance family is WAY more affectionate with each other now and they all credit me with that.  =o)

Ah, so this is how the other side lives. I clicked this thread because I thought the title might be sarcastic, haha.  I used to wish my Future Mother-In-Law would do nice things like help out. Now I just wish she would be pleasant/not bitingly mean.

That’s awesome!

My Future Mother-In-Law is an amazing chef, so every month she puts on a “tasting” event, and makes about 5-7 appetizers for us to test for her to make for our cocktail hour 🙂  I never planned on having a cocktail hour before because we can’t afford it, but now we can!

@Alexis22:  I’m either PMS-y or that was really touching.  I think I have something in my eye!

@Juliepants: I get years in my eyes and overwhelmed with emotion when I think of how lucky I am! I have an amazing Fiance with a spectacular family. The text she sends me often make me tear up because I never thought I would be this lucky!
