nikbee :

For some reason quite a few bees are very anti save the dates, saying they always just put them in the trash, even though they probably sent them out themselves.

When I’ve visited my friends, most had our save the date magnets on the fridge even after our invites went out.

Wow, these are beautiful and so unique! Great job OP, I’m sure your guests will appreciate the time and effort you put into them.

I didn’t think that sending private messages to every poster who doesn’t praise your choices, was the purpose of the private message system. I didn’t know how to report it, or I would have.

It seems that saying “I’d expect good hosting” and “no, I wouldn’t keep it” is enough for a personal attack/harassment. Sad …

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! smile

2XMOB :

you commented on a thread that was created for the sole purpose of making fun of this girl, and you were going to report her for a personal attack?

I think letting it go is in order 😉

nikbee :  You go girl!  These are awesome and I honestly have never seen so much effort put into STDs.

Don’t let the haters get to you!  I went back and saw you have a long history on this site (as do I) and your ex broke your heart.  Now you have a new love and I think that’s awesome!  Since you said you’re from Vegas, I think these are perfect for a Vegas wedding!  I find some of the comments shocking as no one bats an eye at Bees that spend $5,000 on a wedding gown or $20,000 on a ring.  I thought this site was for support.  Yeah, I get when you post something you open yourself up to criticism, but you were proud AF and you just wanted to share!  You should be proud!

I can’t wait to see your other details!

Sansa85 :  Yeah, I just don’t understand the anti-STD sentiment. I mean, if you think it’s a waste of money, it’s cool, but it’s my money and I’ll choose how I want to spend it. Where I am from, people send them out as soon as they get engaged, figure our a date and people stick them up on their fridge. We did the same with others STD’s even invites. We aren’t even asking or expecting people to put ours up on their fridge. I wouldn’t take it badly if they just trash them, but we went for a family occasion recently, and it was very sweet to see that every one of them had our STD up on their fridge along with pictures of grand-children, grad photos, etc.

2XMOB :  Ok, maybe that was an innocuous comment compared to the others, but it’s not really not OK to post a private message without the other’s consent. Coming on here and trying to gang up on OP isn’t going to help. Just let it go. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter.

nikbee :  I wouldn’t want anyone at my wedding who expected something based on a save the date!

The point she is making is that STDs/Invites set the tone for your wedding. A whimsical e-vite will more likely be a casual event. A professionally caligraphered gold leaf 150 lb booklet sets the tone for a much more formal extravagent event. Thats what this poster was trying to convey. If you spent $12 on your STDs and $50 on your invites but you have a cash bar? It looks like your priorities are out of whack. Your personal attack was really uncalled for IMO.

nikbee :  I would not do a lucite wedding invitation just because it may come across as a been there, done that thing for your guests.

I don’t know your wedding colors, but I googled “glamorous wedding invitations” and so many pretty ones came up.  This black one came up and I think it’s funny that it’s for a Vegas wedding.  I picture something like this given that you like modern and glamour.

I think these are so unique and pretty cool. Don’t worry about that other thread. It was clearly meant to be mean spirited. Most bees on here are extremely supportive and if anything honest which can sometimes border on rude. I’ve been known to throw in a not nice comment from time to time. However, you post absolutely did not warrant rudeness or disdain. I think your wedding is going to be so cool and clearly a reflection of your personality! I can’t wait to check out your recap! 😉

Speaking of DIY brides, I am trying to be one myself. I am very fond of gold and back invites too, so I ordered a bunch of gold-foil, laser printed out my invites on cardstock and ran an iron through.. It doesn’t seem to be working 🙁 I think I need to buy a laminator to make the foil stick to the toner.

I’m also totally not into having a wedding theme, i.e. having everything matchy matchy. Like teal bridesmaids dresses, ties fo the men, sashes, etc. I like having a neutral background with a pop of colour. Everytime someone asks me ‘What are the colours of your wedding?’, my eyes begin to twitch. Maybe I am the only odd one.

When I mentioned the black invites to my mother she seemed kinda horrified because she is old-fashioned and always associates black invites and clothing with funerals. If I ever mention black bridesmaids dresses, she might likely have a stroke!
