Did you get a weird or a negative reaction to your engagement?
I wasn’t sure who to tell at work so I thought I’d tell this secretary. He said congrats and walked away. It was so weird and kind of embrarassing. And, I told one of my close friends and he disappeared from FB/Gchat soon after that.
It wasn’t like I was being obnoxious. Anyways, I’m not going to confront them because there is no point.

@mnp: Forget office guy. People at work are usually weird anyways. His opinion doesn’t matter.
Mother-In-Law and SIL didn’t believe us when we announced we were engaged. They thought we were joking, so they just kept setting the dinner table.
We had to CONVINCE them!!
I felt absolutely crushed that neither one of them asked to see my ring.

I wouldn’t expect men to oogle over the ring or gush over the proposal story lol. Don’t take it personally.

@Nicoso: Good point. Some coworkers (both men and women) came right over when their cubicle neighbor told them and then, I got this weird reaction from this one. Oh well! // That totally sucks! I would be crushed, too. I hope they realized what happened. My fiance had to deal with some relatives that asked him if it’s for real.
@MapleMoose: He walked quickly away! *raised eyebrow* But you’re right…they’re dudes, they don’t care about things like this. lol

Hmmmm that’s strange. Everyone I’ve told thus far has been pretty congratulatory and happy for us. Those are strange people :/ I hope the reactions get better from here!

You are preaching to the choir. The only people happy for us were my mom, my best friend and random nursing school people (but they typically just said congrats and went on with our conversation-not like super excited or anything) but the rest of my family were horrible to us!
His family was a bit better, but they typically don’t get excited. At least, I’ve never seen them super excited about something like that.

Better than “are you pregnant?” (which I got from two uncles who were mostly kidding)

@asscherlover: Lol! I got that from my supposed “best friend” (She calls herself that, but we are just not close anymore. I think she doesn’t like that I’m getting married :()
