Would you rather:
Receive a $50 gift card (towards a purchase of pants ($100)
Would you rather receive a pair of ‘knockoff’ Lulu pants (the Zella brand that Nordstrom carries). Apparently, Zella was started by a former Lulu exec… so the concept is similar.
I only own Zella and so I can’t compare the two…. I’m buying a couple Christmas gifts for die-hard Lulu fans, who already own several pairs of pants, but it’s on their wish list.
I was thinking that a pair of Zella pants might be the way to go… but am now rethinking it and wondering if a $50 gift card to help with the purchase of Lulu gear is the way to go….

If they’re die-hard, it may be about the perceived quality as well as the actual quality of the pants (aka- they like the name brand). I’d say go with the gift card and they can get exactly what they want.

I’m biased and the one vote – I love Zella!!

If they are die hard Lulu fans, definitely go with the gift card. They’re aware of how much the pants are, so they’ll be happy to get the gift card to help purcahse a pair. I’m pretty snobby about my brands, so I wouldn’t want a knock-off brand (even if it’s a high quality knock-off).

If they love Lulu Lemon, than I’d say get the $50 gift card. Both my SILs ADORE Lulu and would definitely appreciate the $50, even if it can’t buy anything with that.
I like Lulu Lemon’s style of clothing, but everytime I walk in there I walk out 1 minute later after having looked at a price tag, lol. I just cannot justify the cost of that stuff.

@oracle: I think I’d prefer the gift card. I love Lululemon and $50 towards something there would be great 🙂

I went through this same thought process last year. As much as I hated giving my money to Lululemon, I went with the gift card. People are crazy about that store.

@Sunflower–girl: I love Zella too 🙂 I think they are awesome but I also don’t own any Lulu – do you own both, by any chance? Just curious how they compare….

@oracle: No, I don’t. I am a fitness professional so it would be a tax write off, but I still can’t justify the cost!

if they have several pairs of pants, for fifty bucks you can get shorts, a sports bra, or a shirt (almost anyway – the last one i bought was $58). I’m not at all familiar with Zella, but lulu definitely beats out anything else I’ve ever owned!

I’d say I’m a pretty die-hard Lulu fan – over the last 8 years I’ve had 7 pairs of pants, 3 jackets, a sports bra, and headband. I also own 2 pairs of Zella pants. I’d say if the people you’re getting gifts for KNOW they like Lulu, get the gift card. I like the quality of Zella, but the fit doesn’t compare to Lulus (for my body at least).
