Hi Bees! I’ve had a sore throat for 2 weeks. I went to a clinic last week and tested negative for strep, but the doctor did see some stuff in my nose and ear but thought it was related to allergies. My throat continued to be sore so I’ve been feeling around and I feel a hard lump on the front of my throat near the bottom. I can feel it better when I turn my head upwards. I’m wondering if this lump is normal. I don’t have many women in my life that I can ask so I thought I’d ask here. Thanks!!

Talk to you doctor and show them your lump. Is it located near where the Thyroid might be? (Google pictures) It could be many things. I’m not trying to worry you, if it in that area. About 10 % of the population has lumps on their thyroid. Before you freak, 90% are benign tumors. Most of the time they don’t affect us at all and are just watched by doctors.
The only reason I know all this is because my doc found a lump in my neck.

Sounds like one of your lymph nodes is enlarged or tender due to infection, allergies, or otherwise. I would get it checked out by a Doctor who can palpate it and determine whether it is fixed or moveable, and do further investigations as to what might be going on. I would also get EBV (mononucelosis/glandular fever) tested. Hope you feel better soon!

Are you feeling the lump in your throat or on your neck? I get both, one is quite serious.

Definitely get a doctor to check! I have a lymph node that got enlarged once upon a time and just kinda stayed that way, but the only way to know that’s what’s going on (as opposed to something serious) is have your doctor check it and run the appropriate tests.
