I think you can probably start at 6, which gives you an hour each for hair and makeup (probably overkill) with 15 minutes leeway to put your dress on, etc.  For reference our ceremony was at noon and I started at 7 am for 5 people having makeup done and my sister doing my hair so that we would all be dressed and ready to go by 10:30. I think starting at 6 should give you plenty of time!  The rest of your timeline sounds good too.

thecass:  I’m sorry I really have no advice for you because I am also getting married in April and we are doing the exact same thing! We don’t believe you need to spend a small fortune to marry each other and start our new life! We are getting married at 1:00, having the reception at 2 and we have to be out by 4:30 and that is when we will be taking professional photos.. For our timeline I am thinking that we will start getting ready at 10 (because then we have almost three hours, which is time for getting ready, getting photos seperatly, and getting to the venue)

We also aren’t doing a first dance or a dj so I dont know how we will do the speeches yet (which we will definitely be doing) and we are having cupcakes as well for the cake (we are having high tea) my concern is, how are we entering the reception? Usually the DJ or someone announces the newly weds, have you thought about that?

thecass:  Hi there. I just had my morning wedding over the weekend. πŸ™‚  Our ceremony was at 10am. We didn’t have a bridal party, and we stayed at a hotel that was 5 mins. from our venue (which was a restaurant).

I showered and washed my hair the night before so I could have more time to sleep. πŸ™‚ Below was my timeline.


Pre-Ceremony- Hotel

  • 515am Hair stylist arrives
  • 6am Makeup artist arrives
  • 615am-7am Makeup
  • 7am Photographer arrives
  • 730am Bride gets dressed
  • 730am Wedding coordinator to pick up things
  • 730am Groom gets dressed in the same room as bride
  • 810am Couple/Family pics at hotel 910am Call for Transportaion- cab
  • 915am Bride and Groom leave for ceremony


  • 8am Vendor access to ceremony venue begins 8am Wedding coordinator arrives at venue
  • 8am Venue set up for ceremony
  • 8am Florist arrives & begins set-up
  • 8am DJ arrives & begins set-up
  • 8am-9am Cake/Sweets are delivered
  • 8am Photobooth arrive
  • 915am Officiant arrives
  • 930am Bride and Groom arrives at ceremony, Greet guests
  • 930am Guests begin to arrive
  • 930am Ceremony dj begin prelude
  • 955am Wedding coordinator alerts bride, groom, and officiant to take their place at the dancefloor
  • 10am Ceremony, Guests sitting at their table, no media
  • 1030am Bride and groom exits for moment alone, Walk into hallway
  • 1030am Cocktail hour
  • 1035am Take photos with bride and groom and family
  • 1120am Toast
  • 1130am Food service begins
  • 12pm Photobooth opens
  • 1220pm Cake cutting
  • 1225pm First dance- one minute (DJ invites all couples to dance floor)
  • 1230pm Dance floor opens
  • 1245pm Cake is served on cake table
  • 2pm Photographer departs
  • 3pm Photobooth closes
  • 3pm Reception ends
  • 315pm Guests head to afterparty TBD
  • 315pm Reception musician departs
