Here’s the plan: My SO and myself are meeting next weekend w/ my parents for a nice lunch out. SO had called my dad and said I’d like to discuss something with you, so my dad suggested lunch. We’ll all go to lunch together, but I think my dad will be expecting the discussion during lunch. However I think it’d be best to wait until we met up back at my parents’ house after lunch, and I go off somehwere so SO can talk to them privately. What do you think??

Such an exciting time! I like your idea and think it would work smoothly. If your SO would like to get the conversation out of the way earlier in the lunch outing (SO may wish to get their belssing early on so he wouldn’t be so nervous the whole day – just a thought), then perhaps once seated your and your Mom could sneak away for a bit. . . not sure where you are dining, but perhaps the two of you could go peruse some shops nearby quickly or something of the like. My Fiance took my Dad out to Happy Hour after work (soemthing they do together at least once a month) and had the conversation over great beer and a plate of wings. Good luck!

That’s a good idea to ask early on. Maybe I could show up to the lunch late so he has a chance early on to ask my parents?
Thanks for your help moonchild!!!
