I bought a bunch of packs of the premium M&M’s to put in favor boxes for the reception. I have to tie a ribbon and a card on each. I am just wondering how soon I can open the packages of M&M’s and separate them into the favor boxes without them going bad or something. I honestly don’t even know if M&M’s go bad, but I never buy a bunch of them and let them sit out, they usually get eaten pretty quickly, lol. My wedding is in 19 days, can I start opening the bags now? Or should I wait?

I think you can do it and it would be fine. I would either keep them in the fridge or a cooler just in case you get any humidity in the meantime though.

From the M&M’s website:
How should I store my candies until my event?
They can be stored in the shipping container until you’re ready. Ideal conditions are between 65 and 75 degrees F. Please do not refrigerate.

You should be okay making them up now. I have “found” M&Ms in my purse and I have eaten them and there is no telling how long they were in there. I would not suggest putting them in the fridge. Chocolate does strange things when it is refridgerated and when you take them out of the fridge, the candy will sweat and the colors may run together. Just keep them in a cool dry place; like the pantry or a dark closet with a towel over them, until you need to take them to your wedding.

noritake22 That is so funny!
Thanks for the advice everyone, its definitely nice to know that I can go ahead and knock that out instead of waiting until the last minute.
