MAC is a makeup brand but some people go to their counters to get their makeup done, just like you can at any makeup counter.

@rosworms: That’s exactly what I thought when I went into a Mac store the other day! I bought some eyeshadows, and they didn’t come off, but they did all blend together really quickly. For staying power and vibrancy, I would reccommend Tarina Tarantino at Sephora.

As far as foundation, depending on your skin type and what not, coverage can be iffy. However, their eyeshadow is amazing due to the pigments! They stay and blend very nicely!

MAC has some definite pros and cons; or at least for me!

Pros

Awesome products; love me some StudioFix! And Im super fair, finally have my perfect matched color! Great coverage!

They have awesome color and selection!

Consultants are really helpful matching to your tone, recommendations/sales, even help with application processes/tips.

They offer a “complete make up session” for $50 (could differ in your area) in product. And you can even select your own consultant if you want.

I love their perfumes too! I forget the name but its the one with the white cap! (If they are still by colored tops! lol)

Cons:

They are always insanely busy…I went yesterday, Dear God. You might have to wait…a while.

I have to stop using their make up after awhile of using, my face tends to break out. But I seriously love their product for me. My cousin says something about their makeup containing WAX which cloges pores in turn making me break out. But I care for my face and now know how to maintain it! =)

Limited to where you can buy their products. If you dont have a Nordstroms or Mall near you, you have to order online.

Expensive. Not as expensive as Smashbox, but still up there. Brushes are awesome but again, expensive. I say get their products; and Target sells some great similar brushes, like the “Skunk Brush” MAC $50 vs Target $3-$10 at most!

I have found that Mac makeup artists have much much more training than makeup artists at other counters. I’ve gotten my makeup done at Sephora, Chanel, Elizabeth Arden and the makeup wipes off within 4 hours. If I get my makeup done at MAC it stays on until the next day!

Sorry I sound like a commercial, but I’m a devotee.

I too am a MAC devotee. Their eye paints are the best product I have ever used. Their brushes are a tad pricey, but they wash up better than any I have used. I sometimes use their foundation but it depends on the time of year for my skin. I try to keep it lighter in the summer months.

The counter is great with doing makeup. I do have to tell them every time that I am not in high school so I want not so heavy and nothing too dramatic. I also don’t let them use any of the crazy colors. The makeup will last all day and night and still look fresh and it is great for camera ready.

The MAC counter here does makeup free on the weekdays and they ask that you buy 50 dollars worth of product on the weekends. They also ask for appointments on the weekends. I usually just try to time my makeup sessions with them when I need to buy product anyway.

They made me look like a drag queen.  My freckles disappeared, that’s not cool to me.

MAC products are great! I wore MAC for a pre-wedding shoot and for my wedding/reception. My friend is a MAC artist, so I was very lucky to have her do my makeup. It was her wedding gift to me! As some of the bees stated, MAC products are long-wearing. I did have to touch-up a bit with powder but I had oily skin and it was needed for my skin type.

I suggest going to a local MAC counter at the mall during the weekdays (esp. daytime) because they are not backlogged with customers. Weekends tend to be pretty insane!

It really depends on the makeup artist, but for women of color, MAC can be a lifesaver for finding foundation that actually matches!
