I’m getting married near Madison and I haven’t really started the process yet, but my cousin got married in the Dells last October – so I had her give me all of her vendors! Anyway, they used Country Cakes & Confections out of Westfield (theknockshoppe.com). Their cake was more over the top than I want (their cake is the one that comes up when you bring up that page) but it was such a striking feature and was really good too.

If you need a chocolate fountain, they used A&A Chocolate Fountains out of Poynette (aachocolatefountains.com) and they were great. I helped decorate and the girls that were setting it up were awesome – very personable and helpful.

I haven’t really started looking at vendors yet, so if you have any good ones, let me know – it’s hard planning a Wisconsin wedding from Pennsylvania!

The best tasting cake in Madison area is Carl’s Cakes, hands down.  I sampled about 5 places, and this place rocked.

I just got married in Madison and did a TON of research on DJ’s, harpist/string quartet, baker, photographers, reception sites, flowers, ect.

If anyone needs recommendations, let me know.  I’d be happy to pass along my "best of" lists.

Oh, and the reason I liked Carl’s Cakes so much is because it tasted awesome.  The presentation was nice but slightly traditional in the sense that it was mostly white/chocolate/ivory buttercream frosting (not fondant), but I had people go back for several pieces of cake.  It is now my absolute favorite cake ever.  🙂

I am soon to be engaged and in the Madison area.  My sister and cousin used Carl’s and both were fantastic.  I ate so much cake.

Wow didn’t know there were that many Madison girls on here!

I HIGHLY recommend Carl’s also.  He’s known for his famous buttercream.  Plus if you get some round sheet cakes in addition to a tiered cake you can save a lot because his sheet cakes are very reasonably priced (don’t know the prices off the top of my head but I can get those to you if you want).

The only thing that went "wrong" is that they messed up one of the two flavors of filling we had.  But we had requested a flavor they don’t typically use for weddings so I think that’s why there was mix up.

They can do some great decorating too.  Unlike some of the other bakers we interviewed we didn’t have to pay him extra for the decorating.  Here’s a pic:

If this doesn’t show up you can find it in my bio here:

And if any of you have questions about other local vendors let me know.
