Call and ask how much they can let the dress out if need be.

Do you have a nice long line bra to wear with it? Seriously, they are the best. They hold the gals up nicely and slim you in the torso too. I wear a street 16 and with a long line bra on, I could try on 12s and zip them up to see what the dress (albeit tight) looked like. Without the bra, you were lucky if I could step into the 12. They cost a lot, but a good long line bra will make sure you fit the meaurements. If you are that worried, you can always order a size bigger. But, I would trust the saleswoman if she says you’ll fit a 4.

Hmm to me that doesn’t make a lot of sense that you are a 34D but your bust is only 33 inches.  I thought the standard measure was the band was the number and then if your bust was 4 inches more you were a D.  So that would mean that the measure across your bust would be 37 inches.

I would call and ask if they think it could be let out so that you are safe.  They did measure across the widest part of your bust right?

A longline bra is one that goes down to your hips or waist.  You can find them at barenecessities.com or other online lingerie stores.  They are also called bustiers.

I had a very similar situation with my Maggie. I ended up ordering a size larger than recommended for the girls. I don’t want them squished in there! I figured it is much easier to alter down than to alter up.

I think that it would probably work.  Since it sounds like you have to have some sort of bra underneath in order to be around a size 6, you should wait until you get the dress in to find a bra that fits underneath.  I wasn’t able to wear a bra under mine because the back was too low and no strapless bras had backs that were that low!

Sounds like we are very similar sizes.  I also measure 34D at Victoria’s Secret but am fairly petite otherwise.  According to the size charts, I was also supposed to be a Maggie size 4.  I was worried about the chest being too tight, so I ordered a size 6.  My dress is a corset back though, so I can adjust the size quite a bit.  Anyway, I have received the actual dress now and it fits fine.  I didn’t need any size alterations due to the corset back, just hemming the bottom.  It’s always easier to make a dress smaller, so if you’re unsure and still haven’t ordered, I would go up a size.
