lauralvl:  mine is very similar except the sleeves are thinner so the back is opened up even more.  Unfortunately, I don’t havea great picture of it!

Hi!

I’m new to WeddingBee and am a Bronwyn bride ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m getting married this summer. Can’t wait to wear this beautiful dress. But I need some advice! I bought the dress as a sample – I have not had any alterations done at all because I think the dress fits me well as it is. (let me know what you think!!)

I’m struggling with:

1) Do you think it is long enough? I’m tall and if anything, think it could be a bit longer. Have any of you had extra length added on? If so, how would you recommend it? It’s really only the inner silk slip part of the dress that i’m really worried about not being long enough.

2) Have any of you had the inner part of the dress (the silk slip) attached to the lace outer? I’m thinking about having it done so the train fans out at the back nicely and more consistently.

3) Thoughts on the belt I have chosen? I’m going to have it stiched onto the dress so the back is flat (i.e not tied with a bow)

Thanks ladies! x

!

bumblebev: Welcome! The dress looks stunning on you! And I would not worry about the length at all! I would consider a different belt, because you can hardly see it, it blends in with the dress. Unless this is what you want of course ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m also quite tall 176cm 5’9ft and the length is perfect for me, but my silk slip is a little bit shorter as well. I don’t mind, because you don’t really see it.

lauralvl:  Hi, thanks for the reply. I wanted quite a subtle belt, as I don’t like the sash that comes with the dress. I just wanted something slightly “blingy” to break up my waist a bit, but not too obvious. And I didn’t want it hanging down at the back.

I’m over 6ft tall so the silk slip is quite short on me – do you think you could extend the length on the front of it a bit? Obviously the back is long enough. I’m just worried that when I walk down the aisle my feet will stick out a lot!

bumblebev:  wow, she looks beautiful on you!

I have a very similar dress and will also attach the satin slip to the lace dress. My alterations lady will do that a couple of weeks before the wedding. The straps of the slip dress keep falling down my arms so she’ll adjust them and attach them to the outer layer. Hope this helps!

PKH523:  my dress only took 3 months. I would check with the bridal shop… Seems weird that it’s taking so long!

Hi everyone! I have what might be a silly question…is anyone hemming their train at all?

my wedding is outside and I’m a bit unsure of whether I want the train dragging across dirt and grass…but then I’m not sure if hemming it makes sense either??

christmasbee:  You could wear it bustled even for the ceremony. That way you have the option of letting out the train for pictures still.

For what it’s worth, I my “aisle” was the backyard and I walked all over the grass with the train out. It really didn’t get anywhere as dirty as I thought it was going to. We bustled for the reception and it was fine…you could not see any dirt. Once I got it home, I could tell it was dirty on the underside of the lace/satin on the train, but again, since it was underneath, that was not visible during the wedding. The benefit of having the long beautiful train for pictures and for walking down the aisle is worth it IMO.

Hi Bronwyn brides! I just registered here to be able to tap into your wisdom a bit ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m getting married at the end of May, and the wedding will be in Sweden. There is really no point in wondering what the weather will be like because it could be anything between hot and summery and verging on winter. So, what do you all think I should wear over my lovely Bronwyn? I am not planning on wearing anything over the dress in the pictures or during the ceremony, but I might need something for the time spent outside the church after the ceremony.

So, what should I wear? I feel like the Bronwyn is elaborate enough that I don’t want to overcomplicate it with more lace, but other than that I’m open to ideas. Should I go with a bolero, a shrug, a veil over the shoulders or perhaps an actual light coat? Any ideas or photos of what you wore or will be wearing with your Bronwyn would be appreciated.

Thanks!

sockerkaka:  Hi fellow northern European bee! ๐Ÿ™‚ I have a very similar dress to the Bronwyn and am not planning on wearing anything with it, but if I were, I would add a cute little cardigan in one of your wedding colours. I think yellow, mint green or (light and dark) blue cardigans are always very cute, just for a while. A couple of photos with it would be cute too.
