Thanks Bees! I am in love with Maggie now. Emma is gorgeous along with all of her dresses. I feel like I’ve found *my* designer. You all look gorgeous in Emma, by the way!

Hey everyone. I am fairly certain Emma is the dress for me but have quite a bit of a dilemma. My fiancee and I are just recently engaged and are having short engagement. Our wedding date is set for October 18, 2015 which is just nine months away! I really want to order the Emma but also plan on losing a very significant amount of weight. More than what my current size would be able to be taken in if I order it now. So, with that said, I am going to try to have to estimate my size in the Emma when I’m at my goal weight. Does this dress fit as street size or fit smaller/larger? I am very short at just 5’0 so will be ordering the 5 inches shorter option. I will attach a picture of me at my GOAL size which is 115 pounds. I think I am a bit of a pear shape? I was a misses size 2 or a juniors size 5 here. Any advice from brides who have ordered this dress will be greatly appreciated. I plan to order online as I am quite sure no bridal salon will order a dress so many sizes smaller than my current size.

Hi,

I have ordered Emma too and found it comes up small so I ordered a size up from my normal size. (I think this is fairly normal with wedding dresses anyway!)

I also planned to loose weight after ordering the dress but was unsure what size to order, the ladits in the bridal shop said as its a corset back it can be altered up or down two sizes so that gives more lee way.

Good luck in whatever you decide. It is a beautiful dress so I’m sure you’ll love it!

littlecnurse:  How much do you want to lose? I bought an Emma (used) size 18 and it fit exactly the way street sizes do. My wedding is Aug 1st, and I am currently loosing weight. I’m already down 15 lbs from my dress fitting, and hope to lose a total of 60+ lbs before the wedding. My dress fit perfectly at the most pulled out the corset can go, but the corset can REALLY tighten up! Even though I have/plan to lose so much weight, I’m not afraid of the dress fitting correctly. I would only order at MOST one size down- get the dress so it barely fits now. Then as you lose you can tighten it just by pulling the strings a bit tighter. That corset is just wonderful. Also, keep in mind that even if you lose enough to need the dress taken in, thats pretty easy for a seamstress- it’s taking it OUT that’s the problem!

Kar123:  Can I ask if you needed the height of the dress altered? Was it a standard height?

Hey ladies,

I too am an Emma bride and am having second thoughts about the dress color. I ordered the ivory but have pale skin and red (not natural) hair. I see you all in your beautiful photos of with the white gold dresses and I’m worried I made the wrong choice in color. Should I have gone with the light gold since I have such fair skin. One photo I have of me in my dress I love, but then in different light it the dress looks diamond white and totally washes me out. How does the ivory look with fair skin? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi! I tried Emma on today and fell in love! Now I’m debating what color to get as they only had gold (which was beautiful!)…I stumbled upon this site and your post and didnt think about how it would look next to white or ivory shirts so now I’m freaking out lol. Do you have pics you can post or send me to see how you made it work? Thank you!!! 🙂
