Just as an FYI- I bought a second set of straps because I didnt like the cap sleeves that came with Emma. Well turns out, my seamstress could fix them to lay flat (not capped) and so I dont need the extra straps I bought!

So moral of this is just that you may want to consult your seamstress before buying anything additional 🙂

I’ll post pics when I get the dress back!

lilyflowers :  oooh i am very interested in seeing the final product!! :+)

Also, if you have a picture of the straight straps you bought I have been wondering what compatible strap options there may be out there for Emma to get in place of the cap sleeves!! I’d love to see those too? Like you I dont much care for the way the cap sleeves sit on the edge of my shoulders….interesting that she could make the originals lay flat, I can’t wait to see the pics!!

Thanks for sharing…

harleybeachbride6 :  sorry that I didn’t see this message until now, but I thought I’d share a photo for anyone else interested in hemming the dress and just using the lace overlay for the trim.  Here is the back:

jordannn :  WOW that looks so pretty…did you find it much easier to move around in the dress the way you altereed back?  Also, do you have pic of bustled by chance or didnt it need it?

I love how it looks…wonder if most seamstresses would  know how to do this without ruining the dress…were you nervous??? lol

harleybeachbride6 :  I found it nice and easy to move around and dance in it, I liked that it was nice and light and I didn’t feel like I had all this fabric weighing me down.  I mainly wanted to be comfortable.  My seamtress did the bustle with the loop and buttons, which you could barely see so it made bustling the dress a bit tricky since my bridesmaids had a little bit of trouble actually finding the loops.  It might have been okay without bustling since I spent so little time out on the dance floor but when the seamstress pinned it I thought it looked fine and I tested it when I got the final product and liked how it looked.  The seamstress was who actually suggested that I hem the dress that way and I was all for it.  I never was a fan of big bustles I thought I’d look like a cockatoo if I had both the dress and the lace bustled so I opted for just the lace train and I liked the softer look and the fact that you could really see the details of the lace without it.  My photographer didn’t really get many good photos of it actually bustled, here if the best one I could find that sort of shows it, taken by a guest.
