I just tried on and will purchase the Gatsby in ivory with pewter accents. It’s gorgeous — the perfect blend of vintage and modern. I’m curious to know what folks have done with the bustle. Does anyone have pictures of how they did theirs? I’d love to see because I’m having a hard time imagining it.

Thanks!

@jnovako,

I don’t have any pics of the bustling yet, I’m not planning on having mine altered until February. I am planning on doing a low bustle, maybe just above or below the back of the knee. The lady at the dress shop put it there and it looked fantastic and kept the vintage look. As I said in the previous post, I’m cutting off the ‘dress’ train and keeping the actual train completely sheer since its such a heavy dress, I’d hate to have a heavy bustle as well. Hope this helps!

I still love this dress! And it really does look better on real brides than it does on the model.

I would love to see what this looks like when it’s done! I just got mine ordered, and I won’t have it until April, so there won’t be a lot of time for fussing (our wedding is May 15).

Thanks!

Looks like I’m gonna be a Gatsby girl too! I was leaning towards the Joanna or the Anniston but the salesgirl suggested I try the Gatsby. It was probably the 25th dress I had tried on so I really had no expectations of liking it. I shocked myself when I burst into tears! Simple, classic, elegant, with BLING…it has it all! I’ve chosen ivory on ivory and decided to ditch the sash and the sleeves to keep it simple.

I’m so glad you girls have posted your gorgeous pictures of your dresses! I totally agree that the picture from the website doesn’t do it justice. I’m having trouble accessorizing now. Does anyone have suggestions for shoes, veils, jewllery? I love the sexy styles of Guisseppe Zanotti shoes but find them a little expensive…anybody know an alternative?

I went in for alterations last week and I can pick it up February 26th if anyone is still waiting on pics for the bustle. I ended up going with a bustle a little bit higher so that it wouldn’t drag on the ground. Will post pics of this sometime after next Friday. Hope everyone else’s gatsby alterations are going well !

Ooh, I can’t wait to see pictures… I have decided to order the Gatsby but am undecided on the white or the ivory with pewter accents.  I tried on the white and everyone agrees that it looks great but I really want to see a “real” picture of the ivory with pewter accents.  I saw an actual champagne and light gold dress but it was way too dark for me…

Hi everyone,

I am soo excited to meet other Gatsby girls.

I tried on at least 12 gowns before I came out in this one and was soo suprised that i liked it as much as I did since I am usually a plain/simple girl.

Scotty..the dress I tried on is ivory so i’ll post this for you. I have been having the same dilemma since I did order the ivory with pewter accents but I saw the champagne gown on a manequin and it was gorgeous! the details really come out with the champagne color and it looks much more elegant.

Help!  I need to order my dress asap but I still can’t decide on the white or the ivory with pewter accent!  Thanks caroline, for posting the pics, I’m still struggling as I can’t actually try on a dress in the ivory with pewter… I’m leaning toward the ivory as I’m worried that you lose some of the detail with the white, but everyone insists the white looks great… Suggestions?  Comments?

Ivory. I think it will compliment your skin tone perfectly 🙂
