I may be biased but I would save ivory with pewter as well. I have seen the dress and in all three colors that are offered and I have to say that the ivory and champagne really gave it that classic look.

you cant go wrong with white if that is where your heart it but you should consider 2 things:

1) if the details of the beading dont stand out it may just look like a plain white gown in pictures if you do choose all white,  although it still looks great on you since the dress is so form fitting

2) consider the time of year. All white would be great for a summer wedding but having some accent may be nicer for the fall?

Thanks girls… Caroline, that the detailing wouldn’t stand out in pictures and just come out as a plain white dress is exactly what worries me…  I have an opportunity to try on the all ivory dress on March 1st so I’m hoping this will alleviate some of the anxiety of not being able to try on the color of the dress that I order.

Here is a picture of my bustle, it turned out great but unfortunately I couldn’t get a good pic of it since I can’t tie the corsette back all by myself! But for those of you who were wondering about a bustle… this is how I did mine. Again sorry for the poor pic but I couldn’t get the dress to do what I wanted for the pic with me wearing it!

Hi To All The Gatsby Girls!

I am not getting married until October of 2012. Yes, I know, so far away.. Well my mom, and a friend decided one day to just go look around start shopping for a wedding dress, just to get the process started since you know its like almost the MOST important part of getting married…well we went to a bridal shop in lafeyette and we pulled a couple of dresses…well I told the lady who was helping me that my fiance and I wanted a “vintage” almost “old hollywood” themed wedding, well needless to say she pulled the GATSBY for me and when I put it on I knew instantly that this was my dress. I tried it on in the Champagne / Pewter with the light gold., and needless to say thats the one I ordered because the detail of the dress was just amazing! I am still waiting and I ordered it a couple of months ago. Well anyways I have attached a picture of myself in it but cut out my face JUST in case my fiance would stumble upon this website…

**I tried on the headpiece in the picture and liked it because it had that vintage feel but I am now thinking twice about it. I have also attached a picture of a birdcage veil I am thinking about ordering to go along with my perfect dress..

If ya’ll have any comments or suggestions please feel free to let me know, thanks so much!!!

Hi I am wearing the Gatsby for my October wedding.  Mine will be in the gold as I am very fair skinned and this looked the best on me.  I have a question out there for all you gatsby brides… what are you doing about a veil?  I tried a birdcage veil and it just didn’t look right on me so I am opting for a more traditional one that is pinned low on the back of my head.  But I am not quite sure as to how long it should be as the train is already sheer and also what color it should be.  I have fabric samples already from a veil place and when deciding between colors should the veil be a shade lighter or the same color?  Help? My wedding will be small (~50 ppl) and the ceremony will be in the living room of a historic house so there will be room to move around but not a long church aisle.

GWERTYGWERT:

MY WEDDING WILL ALSO BE IN OCTOBER BUT NOT UNTIL 2012. YOU CAN SEE MY PICTURES ABOVE YOU COMMENT.

I AM ALSO WEARING THE CHAMPAGNE COLOR B.C I AM FAIR SKINNED AND IT GOES PERFECTLY. NOW AS FOR THE VEIL, I HAVE SEEN MOST GIRLS WEAR THE LONG VEIL (YOU CAN PICTURES OF IT ON THE MAGGIE SOTTERO WEBSITE) WHEN GOING FOR THE TRADITIONAL LOOK.

BUT AS FOR MY OPINION I THINK THAT TAKES AWAY FROM THE DRESS, SO I WOULD GO WITH A SHORTER VEIL SINCE YOU DON’T LIKE THE BIRDCAGE. (WHICH I AM DOING)..YOU CAN DO EITHER CHAMPAGNE OR AN IVORY, I THINK THE IVORY WOULD PROBABLY DO BEST. IN THE END ITS ALL UP TO YOU AND WHAT YOU WANT!

HOPE THIS HELPS, TAKE CARE!!

hi girls. I ordered my dress in ivory and decided on silk flower for my hair, no veil. I felt that a veil would take away from the dress since the detail in the back already looks like a veil and i was worried this would take away from it.

Etsy.com has gorgeous birdcage veils and antigue looking headbands. I put like 20 of them in my favorits but have not been able to make a decision abotu which to buy.

also try birdcageveils.com! This is probably the website I will get my birdcage veil from and they custom make each veil to fit your needs, I have spoke with them, they have their store in Texas and will ship anywheres. There are absolutely the most nicest people and they want to do everything they can to make sure you get exactly what you want!

Caroline- I’m leaning towards no veil as well, I love the antique headbands, but the flower always looks so nice! And my original idea was to get one of the hairpieces with peacock feathers, since those are our colors, but now I wonder if it’s too stark…

and a new question for gatsby girls! What are you doing about shoes?!! I have been on the hunt for a couple of weeks with no luck. I wanted colored shoes before, either purple or blue, but now I think it won’t work… anyone have their shoes picked out?

ARENYTH:

I have picked out my shoes already, in the picture they are white, but they have been dyed champagne to go with my dress. (champagne / pewtwer w/ light gold accents)..

May I ask, why would you want purple or blue shoes? lol… Are you wearing the gatsby dress?
