Hey ladies! I ordered the Isadora back in January, can’t wait for it to come in! Getting married June 2012. We originally planned for Sept. 2011, but moved it.

I saw this dress online last year and that was it. I almost ordered it without trying it on since no store had it yet, everyone thought I was crazy! My Mother-In-Law insisted I go try dresses on, I did it to please her, but everything else looked like poop. The store manager called me the day after saying she made a call and got the sample gown so I could try it on! I put it on for all of two seconds and knew it was the one!

I’m going to be wearing the shoulder strap to my reception. However during the cremony, which is taking place in a Catholic church, my mother made me agree to wear something that covered my shoulders.

All of you girls look amazing in the dress!! I am going to look at the strap when my dress comes in. I really want to use it some how though.  Has anyone else decided what type of veil they are going with?

I have a question about sizing. I ordered a size smaller than I wear in jeans. The salon I ordered from did not measure. They had me try on a few dresses (not the isadora) and then they decided on what size. The dresses I tried on in that size were too small but the salon really thought I should go with it.  I am just worried that it is going to be too small. Did you girls think the sizing was different for this dress than other dresses??

@mBride2011:

I am assuming they put in corset/lace back dresses similar to the Isadora and if so how did they fit/feel on you?

Anyway ALL other dresses I tryied on were size 10 but the Isadora was an 8 and I wear a 6/7 in street clothes. It’s confusing. The size 8 Isadora is a tad bigger in the hips and bust, than any of the 10 size dresses I tried on, so I think you will be fine. I almost think I should have gone with a 6, lol.

As for a veil, I’m still going with a mantilla, well if the color is right. (its my grandmothers and it hasn’t seen sun light in over 40 years, lol). if it doesn’t look right I willl have a finger tip mantilla as backup. Both are ivory, though, I cant remember if the bodice is also ivory.

I suppose I should go get from the the boutique so I won’t forget what it looks like but I have no where to store it. =)

@mBride2011: I wore a size 8 in allure and most of the other dresses or at least a size 6. I tried on the isadora in a 4 and it was too big! So I ordered a 2 which is 2-3 size smaller than normal! I hope it will fit as well! I think they run big so you should be fine!

@lockha

I am getting cups sewn into my dress it add a little wow factor. I bought them at a prom dress store when I was in high school. I think they cost me about $10. They are similar to this:

I think most places that sell formals have them!

Also, thanks for the reassurance about the size 🙂 I feel alot better!

Just a question about sizes actually and how you all found the fit. I am ordering without trying it on (brave!) and I know alterations can fix a lot… of course I think I am a 6 in Maggie’s and the ones I’ve found to buy are size 4 or 8 hahah. Measurements are 34-27-34 so guessing 4 is too small(?) Hopefully there isn’t an issue with taking in an 8 that much either!

@jennifer nz

I am not sure what size you should go with. Wedding dress sizes are so different. Though I was typically wearing a size 8 or 10 in most Maggie dresses, in a few of the dresses, I would have needed a 12. I bought the Isadora in a 6. I tried on the 8 and the corset was pretty close together so the bridal shop I ordered from had me go with a 6. Other girls have also said that they think the Isadora runs a little big. My measurements are 37-27-39. I have not gotten the dress in though so I am not sure if it fits (fingers crossed!!) A corseted back can also give you room for error because you can either have the laces really close together or further apart. Dresses are easier to take in than to let out though so that is important to remember as well. I hope some of this information can help you!! I don’t think I will ever fully understand how wedding dresses are sized!!!

@jennifer_nz: Ya the isadora was even different than the other maggies I tried On, your measurements are very similar to mine I believe, What points were you measuring? Under the breast or across the top? belly button or smallest part of waist? and then across the booty or just above it? I will measure when I get home at 4:45 ish and post it for you but I am thinking you might need a 2 or 4! The hips were bigger proportionally than the rest of the bodice on me.

@lockha: Those measurements are the ones the shop did and used to determine what size I was, so I think they are the standard measurements that dressmakers take…I know it can be taken in but 5″ in the hips seems like a lot extra!! The only sample here is a size 10 or 12 so it doesnt really help me figure out how they fit!!

@jennifer_nz: I wouldnt even say order a 6!!! I Just measured and i am exactly 34-27-(34 around hip bones and 36 around butt)  I tried on the 4 and it was pretty perfect on the bust, a little big on waist and big on hips.So I went with a 2 by feeling and suggestion by shop! Hope this helps!
